About this ebook

In Katie Rose’s irresistible battle of wits, a case of mistaken identity lands a female fan in bed with a sexy superstar—and in major-league trouble.

House-sitting for a rich and famous friend has its perks, and Darcy Hamel isn’t shy about enjoying them. Especially when it means scoring a ticket to an exclusive fashion show hosted by the New Jersey Sonics. An avid baseball fan, Darcy has always dreamed of meeting the team—especially the starting pitcher whose body is as hot as his fastball. But there’s a catch. The gala is by invitation only. To get behind the velvet rope, mild-mannered Darcy will have to pose as party girl Lydia Logan.

Schmoozing is one of the downsides of fame, but Chase Westbrook knows how to liven up even the dullest event. And nothing spices a night up more than a beautiful socialite with a naughty reputation. What Chase doesn’t expect is a hint of sweetness beneath her sultry façade. Flirtation turns to seduction and leaves him aching for more. Chase just doesn’t know who the real Lydia is: the spoiled tease crying foul over some missing diamonds or the alluring woman making a play for his heart.

Praise for Katie Rose and Bring on the Heat

“The plot is believable, and, by the way, this story sizzles! Lots of hot yumminess to brighten any summer night.”Library Journal

“Charming, sexy, and smart, Katie Rose’s Bad Boys of Baseball series will make you wish it went into extra innings!”USA Today bestselling author Lauren Layne

“Chase is my kind of sports hero: dedicated, determined, and dangerously desirable!”—Wendy S. Marcus, award-winning author of Secrets of a Shy Socialite

“What can I say about this book . . . It is amazing! I loved it.”—Libby’s Fun Books

Bring on the Heat was a fun, quick read that has just enough baseball to keep it in the genre, but not so much that you lose readers who don’t live and breathe sports!”—Two Moms Reading

Bring on the Heat is one of those stories that I enjoyed very much: a heroine who is mistaken for her high-profile employer, a major-league pitcher on the brink of superstardom, and too much publicity for them both, leading to all kinds of interesting issues.”—Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Darcy is just your average schmuck who somehow lands a job as a housesitter for a wealthy heiress. While generally selfish and clueless, Lydia the heiress, decides to allow Darcy to attend a charity event in her place. Darcy has her misgivings but seeing as the charity event will have appearances by the Sonics, her favorite baseball team, she can't quite bring herself to say no. There, she meets Chase Westbrook, one of her favorite players. Chase is a MLB pitcher looking to sign a bigger contract, play for a better team, and finally prove to his dad he is successful. When he sees who he thinks is Lydia the playgirl heiress he decides a night of frivolous fun is order.

Darcy is a character that is hard to fully like, she seems to get caught up in the glitz and glamour but ultimately she is outright deceiving Chase. Chase is no innocent babe either, his agent tells him that Lydia's grandfather likes the influence Chase seems to have on her and since the grandfather has a controlling interest in the Yankees, a team Chase desperately wants to play for, he pulls a devious trick of his own to keep who he thinks is Lydia by his side.

There is a little depth to the characters with issues from parents and personal insecurities discussed but you probably wouldn't need a life jacket to swim in their waters. As they spend more time together our leads start to develop stronger feelings for each other. There isn't much for emotion written or felt here but the reader can see and understand, to some degree, what Darcy and Chase see in each other. The mistaken identity is eventually found out and gotten over and Chase decides gosh darn it he and his team are good enough. All these happenings and affirmations all happen fairly fast as the ending ends up feeling rushed.

This story is a quick read as there isn't too much substance to it but let's be honest, as a reader you know that and buy this book for the same reason reality tv shows are so popular; escapism. It's a cotton candy summer sports themed romance, great for a beach read.

Fabulous book! I understand this is the first contemporary for this author, and she nailed it! Very well written with great characters, humor, sexy scenes, and romance. Oh and smoking hot baseball players!! It's a story of mistaken identity and hero worship that turns into something real. Great read I highly recommend.

This is the romance between Darcy Hamilton, house sitter, and Chase Westbrook, major league pitcher. Darcy is a big baseball fan. So when she is offered the chance to attend a fund raiser and meet the team by using her employer's invitation, she jumps at it. Her employer Lydia Logan tells her to borrow appropriate clothing from her closet. Darcy never expects to be mistaken for Lydia but, once she is, she has a hard time clearing things up. She meets Chase at the party and his is attracted to her - or is he attracted to Lydia?Darcy has too much to drink and goes home with Chase but passes out before the have sex. When she awakens early the next morning, her first impulse is to go home but she forgets the diamond earrings that she borrowed from Lydia. She has to keep up the impersonation long enough to get Lydia's earrings back. Chase, meanwhile, wants to stay close to Lydia because her grandfather has an interest in the Yankees and they are the team that he wants to play for. Being with the Yankees would meet his father's criteria for success. Both characters have ulterior motives but they also get to know each other and fall in love. This was a nice romance. Fans of sports romances will enjoy this one.

A case of mistaken identity mashed up with Cinderella. Darcy gets to attend a charity event in her place of her boss, wealthy Lydia Logan. She meets Chase Westbrook, her favorite player. Chase, thinking she is Lydia aka playgirl heiress, he pursues her for a night of fun. This story is a quick, lighthearted romance read. Not much else to it. (It didn't really "hook" me into the story like some but I was able to finish reading it.)I received this book in exchange for an honest book review.

When a case of mistake identity spirals out of control, Darcy just keeps getting herself in deeper. She's always loved baseball, always had a crush on Chase Westbrook, and he's always been her favorite player. When she gets the chance to meet him in person, he mistakes her for a rich heiress and she goes along with it to hang out with him. One thing leads to another and she extends the fairytale by actually dating him, always knowing she has to tell him the truth. Will she lose him when the truth finally comes out?I really enjoyed Bring on the Heat! The storyline was adorable and it was well written with awesome characters. The hero and heroine's wits were evenly matched, their morals a refreshing bonus to the story. I love a sports hero and Chase fit the bill, being not only sexy, but sweet too. Ms. Rose livened the story up with all the encounters Darcy had, being mistaken for the heiress. This was a really fun, sexy romance I'm glad I had the opportunity to read. The sex scenes were delicious, but I felt bad for Darcy when Chase called out the wrong name, believing her to be the heiress. Of course I was totally involved, waiting to see what would happen when the truth finally did come out. I'll be impatiently awaiting more from Ms. Rose since I can hardly wait to read more! Bring on the Heat is a Must Read!

A fast-paced, fun, and highly readable romance. Baseball player Chase Westbrook falls for Darcy Hamilton's 'realness' when she is masquerading as society airhead Lydia Logan. Although it gets off to a wobbly start, their relationship grows unexpectedly close and changes both of them. Recommended.
