This is a book about shape-shifting dragons and makes me feel like the whole supernatural romance genre has become self-mocking. Like humans are going to be playing tonsil hockey with more and more ridiculous creatures until no-one can even take it seriously anymore. Have we done centaurs yet?! How about a sphinx?! This is probably evidence that I'm getting old and surly and am going to start uttering things like, "What's wrong with kids today?"

The mark of a good series is the ability to read any of its parts out of sequence and have it be an enjoyable read. The mark of a great series is the need to read the rest of the series after having read one out of sequence. Talon is a good series but definitely not great; having read book 3, I could care less what happens to Ember or Riley or Garrett or even Wes (who was the only character I found remotely interesting) and wouldn't lift a finger to find out. If I was younger and had less discriminating taste and more time, I might be subject to the allure of such a series though. Maybe. (No, probably not.)

Many thanks to Harlequin Teen for the free review copy via goodreads.

This third book in the Talon saga has a number of twists and turns and a number of startling revelations. Ember is torn between her feelings for Riley and her feelings for Garret. She learns something from a Chinese dragon that makes her feeling more clear and more confused at the same time. The rogues, led by Riley, are being hounded on two fronts. Both Talon and the Order of St. George have targeted them. What makes it even worse is that there is a secret conspiracy that may spell doom for our beleaguered rogues. One of my favorite parts of the story was the visit to Talon's archives under an unassuming public library in Chicago. Getting a chance to meet one of the elder Wyrms was awesome.Dante is getting deeper and deeper into the evil that it Talon as me makes choices that strip away any pretense of his making moral choices. There are startling revelations in his story arc too. This was a strong entry into a great series. I can't wait for LEGION to be published. I need to know what is ahead for our heroes.

Ember, Riley and Garret join together when Garret reveals that the St George Patriarch is really working with Talon to destroy rogue dragons. There's plenty of tension between the two males because the dragon side of Ember is attracted to Cobalt, the dragon side of Riley, but the human side of Ember loves Garrett. I thought this book was the end of the series, but it's not. The next book is called Legion.

Gripping!Kagawa just doesn't let up the pressure!Once more I was on the edge of my seat consumed by events that befall Garret, Ember and Riley.Privy to a new set of factors that sets the the cat among the pigeons, or perhaps the dragons amongst the St Georgians, a new truth of betrayal leaves all reeling.Garret, Riley and Ember must look for answers in the depths of Talon's ultimate hoard of treasure and then confront the very heirachy of the order of St George. Add to this an older and wiser Eastern dragon, Jade, and the revelation of shocking task that Dante has been set by Talon, and this is once again a whirlwind ride. And yes a few tears flowed.Ember becomes more in tune and more confused as her dragon side and human side intersect. Her feelings for both Garret and Riley or rather Cobalt are in a state of tension.A NetGalley ARC
