About this ebook

Can Deputy Brady Moore, a man desperate to protect his brother's children, convince Dana Ritchie, a woman desperate to protect herself, to be his wife?

Brady's only asking Dana to be a temporary wife. After all, he can hardly expect a woman he's just met to spend the rest of her life with him and his three nieces. If there was any other way to keep the little girls from entering "the system," he wouldn't even ask.

Dana's more than reluctant to accept. She once loved a little boy who wasn't hers and lived to regret it. If she gives her heart to the children and then has to watch them walk away, she might never recover. But how is she ever going to resist these three girls?

Susan Floyd

Although Susan Floyd has been writing all her life, she didn't start finishing books and submitting them until 1997. Since then, she's found herself on a wonderful journey as she gradually made contact with fellow romance writers and editors at Harlequin Superromance. With the publication of One of the Family, January 2000, which is set on a dairy farm in her hometown of Los Banos, California, Susan has finally fulfilled a life-long dream. Her second book, released in June 2000, is Mr Elliott Finds a Family - in which families in all shapes and sizes are celebrated. Susan was thrilled when Harlequin offered her a contract for three more Superromances. As her writing career continues to blossom, her teaching career is settling down. Just recently, she has been offered a full-time, tenure-track teaching position in Developmental English at the Westside satellite campus of Merced College, beginning in August 2000. This means no more two-hour commutes to the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she has taught research and academic writing skills for the past 12 years. With her evenings free (finally!), Susan hopes to continue to train the Mr. Riley Dog (the family dog) to the level where he can be admitted into a therapy dog program. She also is a (sometimes) avid gardener and cross-stitcher.

This book was a really intense read and I finished it in one day. It was a real page turner for me and a story that swept me away and filled me with emotions. Anyone wanting a feel good fluffy romance should absolutely read this book.Even though I thought it was a very fun read, I do have several complaints about the book also.Firstly, I thought it was very hard to suspend disbelief. Too much weird stuff was happening and it almost felt forced instead of coming naturally. I don’t want to say it was formulaic exactly certainly less than believable.Secondly, the pacing of this book felt off. It almost rushed you through. Especially near the end of the book it was so fast that you couldn’t savor it. I wished there had been more scenes where Brady and Dana talked, played, or otherwise got to know each other. Instead, he proves he is domestic and good with kids, each of them share their darkest secrets, and then they have sex (off stage). Similarly, I felt the ending was very abrupt. I would have liked another chapter in the book or perhaps and epilogue to give me a better sense of closure and HEA.Finally, I didn’t feel that Brady was fully developed outside of his role as uncle and love interest. He is a POV character but he just didn’t feel very real to me. I would have liked a tour of his home, info on past romantic relationships, or maybe a few scenes of him at work. In the course of the book he has to solve a bit of a mystery and that would have been a perfect chance to get to know him but instead all detective was done off stage and we only learn about the outcome of his findings through dialogue later. We never get to see him doing much to solve the mystery. So, my overall conclusion is that it was a read I enjoyed but one I felt I could have enjoyed more if there had been a few more chapters and perhaps some more realistic circumstances.
