Losing Weight and Keeping It Off - Fred Lechuga

I want to thank my wonderful wife for always supporting me in my all my crazy goals and decisions.

I would like to thank my son for coming into our world and inspiring me to become healthier. I want to be part of his life for a very long time.

I would also like to thank the company that just laid me off after 18 years of employment. Without your decision, I would not have kicked myself in the rear end to finally write this book.

    Introduction

Experience produces confidence, and confidence produces success.

    - Chris Guillebeau (The Happiness of Pursuit)

My name is Fred Lechuga, founder of the extreme weight loss success story website (Fat2FitFred.com). I started the website to share my lifetime struggles of losing weight and how I used to hate running but eventually took advantage of its benefits to assist me in losing over 100 pounds (7.1 stones or 45.4 kilograms).

Before we begin please keep in mind that at this time I am not a certified nutritionist, personal trainer or coach. I am simply sharing my lifetime weight challenges and how I was able to overcome them. If anything, consider this book a weight loss memoir.

My hope is to motivate others with my story. Especially the people who have really struggled with weight loss. This long personal journey has been filled with valuable experiences I hope to share with others.

Congratulations on your purchase of this book and your interest in making the right decision to getting healthy and to learn about how I lost over 100 pounds. If you have a personal story to share or you need someone to give you some motivation, please feel free to reach out to me on my website and/or any of my social media contacts below.

    Why I Wrote This Book

The state of your life is nothing more than a reflection of your state of mind.

    - Wayne Dyer

Thousands of books have been written on HOW to lose weight. This book is not one of those books. Experts have offered their advice and on how THEY have the right answer(s) and can help YOU lose weight conclusively. How many infomercials have you watched hosted by professionals hoping each one would be able to provide you with the final answer to your weight loss battles? How many books have you bought throughout your whole life and still have not had an impact on your health? How many of those people did you truly relate to?

Many experts have created and offered the final diet or workout plan you will ever need to finally get rid of the extra weight you have been carrying around. Many of us have spent quite a lot of money purchasing a variety of exercise gadgets or books all claiming that each one was going to be the answer to my weight problems. I am definitely of contributing to this multi-million dollar industry.

Most of these how to books are typically written by chiseled up certified or famous personal trainers. However, as I look back, how did they know the struggles I dealt with while growing up overweight? Did any of these trainers eat boxes of cookies every week as a child? Most of them (not all) can’t truly relate to my many years of self-esteem issues, overeating and battling weight problems.

I was called fat day in and day out throughout my entire childhood. The struggling years continued until my adulthood. There were mental battles I had to win before I could successfully lose the weight. These are the topics not mentioned in those types of books because the writers just focus on the foods and exercises you need to follow to have the fat melt off.

I decided to take a different route with this book. I want to simply share where I started and how I did it. Will it help others? I believe there are quite a few people who can relate to my former life. I hope the book will assist them in reaching their fitness goals and become healthier. I know what it is like being 355 pounds and having no motivation to make changes. I know what it is like to be eating food out of boredom. I know that unless a person has struggled with weight problems, they will never know what that life is like.

I am a person who has been the subject of a lifelong weight struggle as an overweight toddler, kid, teenager and adult from the suburbs of Chicago. A chubby kid and fat adult, who finally made the right decision to change his life to live longer, lost his former image and eventually became a marathon runner.

The book was written purposely to not be complex or complicated. I am not going to use big words to try to make myself sound important. I am not going to use any scientific references or studies performed on rats. I am going to share with you my own experiences, thoughts and methods on how I finally got rid of 100 pounds after decades of being fat. I will also share what life is like after losing so much weight.

I am telling you this upfront...I will not be giving you a diet to follow. I will not be promising the answers to your weight loss challenges. I am simply sharing my story, as well as useful tips on how I was able to lose over 100 pounds in under a year. I accomplished this after struggling with weight my entire life and being told I would be fat forever because it was in my genes. I will also share how I have been able to keep it off since 2006 and why I continue this new lifestyle.

The first reason why this book was developed was because I wanted people to be inspired and make changes to their life RIGHT NOW. I have received emails in responses to my blog posts from people with weight loss issues who have given up, quit school due to teasing by classmates. I have also received numerous emails from people telling me they are overwhelmed by all the information and just don’t know where to start.

Now by publishing this book they and so many others will have a very affordable book to refer to for some motivation and guidance by someone they can relate to. You will now have proof that you can go from an obese couch potato to a marathon runner.

I am a person who grew up obese. I dealt with being an overeater my entire life and I know there are thousands of other people out there who are struggling with the same problems I struggled with for so many years of my life. I want
