About this ebook

Something about our past – the one that took place thousands of years ago – is not right. And members of lodges and the heads of great religions are aware of this. They are keeping their knowledge to themselves. The people are to remain religious and ignorant. But when it is about comparing knowledge and intelligence with ignorance and stupidity, most people will prefer intelligence to ignorance and stupidity. The mentality of a society that does not receive an alternative for its beliefs and its ideology because the monopoly in question does not allow it must fossilize.

At our universities the same nonsense that was taught a hundred years ago is still being taught in Ethnology and Theology. “1000 years’ worth of musty odor under the academic gowns” is what it said on the banners the students were carrying during their demonstrations in 1968. Nothing has changed. And that is what this book is about. Erich von Däniken meticulously lists proven cases of cultural confrontations during which a technically superior civilization collided with a technically inferior civilization. The result was always the same. The technically inferior civilization always classified the other side as being “supernatural.” The effects of the technical devices were regarded as “miracles.” That is what happened last century; that is what happened during the age of discoveries and that is what happened during the Stone Age. That is when extra-terrestrials landed on earth that behaved like ethnologists. They observed a number of societies and disappeared again, promising that they would return some day. The Stone Age people hadn’t understood anything and categorized the foreigners as “gods.” And that is how religions were established.

How could knowledge like that be lost over the millennia? And why is it still being suppressed in our day and age that is so enlightened?

Erich von Däniken makes a clean sweep. He locates and depicts inconsistencies that are about to be forgotten in our vast reservoir of knowledge. This book will show you how to be amazed again.

Chapter 1: THE END OF SILENCE

I am breaking an unwritten law, the law of silence. I’m providing the public with a few facts that have hitherto only been available to underground lodges. Or piecemeal in my books. Why does secret knowledge even exist? It exists because of the psychological barrier that all of Western and Muslim societies are afflicted with. The thought barrier is erected from antiquated, completely misinterpreted religious traditions and from a mixture of modern ideologies. Although they frequently have good intentions, many of those responsible desperately maintain the illusion that man must be kept in the darkness of ignorance. People subjugate themselves to the prevailing zeitgeist.

Some abuse the salvation of the people, which allegedly is so dear to their heart, to justify the fatally wrong decision, while others operate in terms of the accountability of their ideology. Ultimately both scenarios culminate in a lie. When the objective is to compare knowledge and intelligence with ignorance and stupidity, most people will prefer knowledge and intelligence to ignorance and stupidity. If a society isn’t provided with alternatives for its belief and ideology and if it is denied the option to read and discuss alternatives because the prevailing monopoly forbids it, its brainpower will decay. Even the assumption that there could be something beyond one’s belief that could dispute a previous belief or knowledge is deemed a sacrilege. So here are the principles for which I will provide proof in the following.

Many millennia ago – no one knows the year – extra-terrestrials landed on earth. Our predecessors at the time were members of the Stone Age and didn’t have a clue about technology, grasped nothing and erroneously assumed that the foreigners were gods. Our contemporaries know that there are no gods but our ancestors lacked this insight. The ETs, on the other hand, behaved like ethnologists. They studied a few tribes and learned their languages, conversed with the most intelligent among the Stone Age people, gave them advice on how to make life easier and at some point bid them farewell and promised that they would return in the near future. And off they were.

The indigenous people were left stunned and tried to process the experience. But how were Stone Age people to classify a technology for which there weren’t even words? They knew what a bush, a tree, a rock, a river and a mountain was and they knew the names of animals, ranging from ants to birds to lions. But in their world there were no words for flashlight, lazer beam, dynamite, airplane, microphone, antenna or loudspeaker. The next generation which had not personally witnessed the extra-terrestrials, comprehended even less than their fathers. What were they talking about? About celestial birds? Celestial creatures? Flying saucers" and things that moved on their own, ghost-like? The following example illustrates how reality becomes mistaken hocus-pocus:

Imagine that our present civilization was destroyed. Either by a terrible war or the earth’s axis shifting, a meteor smashing into the earth or some other kind of catastrophe. And only a few people living in the Tibetan mountains survived the disaster. Of course they would try to preserve the human species, producing as many children as possible. One evening, a father is sitting in front of his mountain hut with his three-year-old son when a huge eagle starts circling over the valley. The father looks up and tells his son the following story:

Look, child. Do you see the bird up there? When I was young and when my fathers were young there were birds that were a hundred times bigger than those birds. The birds were so big that people could sit inside them and look down on the earth through little holes. The large bird would speed over the oceans, faster than an arrow, and there was a country where the houses were so high that they reached the clouds...

Decades went by, the father died and the boy became a man. Now he had a four-year-old son on his knees when the eagle started circling above them. Look, my boy, the father said to his son and pointed towards the eagle in the sky. Your grandfather once told me that there was a time when there were birds that were a hundred times bigger than the one up there. People could sit in the belly of the bird and look down onto the earth through little holes. The birds were faster than arrows when they flew over the great waters and arrived in countries where the houses were so high their roofs reached the clouds...

Two generations are enough to transform reality into a fairy tale. What was it like thousands of years ago? What kinds of thoughts would our Stone Age ancestors have had about the technologies of extra-terrestrials? How would they have behaved? How would they have processed the unbelievable events and have passed them on to the next generation?

Long ago I stopped trying to understand why the same knowledge that was taught last century is still being taught in so many areas of ethnology and theology. It would appear that the distances on earth had not shrunk and modern means of communication that magically place myths and religious history onto our screens did not exist. Thinking formulas are stuck; they’re being stashed away. The banners that the students carried during their demonstrations in 1968 read 1000 years’ worth of musty odor under the academic gowns. While I understand musty odor when it comes to religions because religions must perpetuate, even if the dogma is dead wrong, science should not perpetuate obsolete positions but rather create new knowledge. In fact we know precisely how people act in view of an incomprehensible technology, as these things occurred more recently. Here’s the evidence:

In the spring of 1945 the American army had turned the area around Hollandia (New Guinea) into a base camp. At times 40.000 soldiers were stationed there. Planes were landing incessantly and bringing supplies for the war in the Pacific. The bush people, usually Papuans, watched the comings and goings of these strangers uncomprehendingly. They knew nothing about global politics and nothing about technology. The US soldiers distributed small gifts: tins of food, chocolate, chewing gum, T shirts, old shoes and once in a while a knife, a pot or a bottle. The natives referred to these gifts as cargo. More and more Papuans wanted to have cargo; more and more natives left the jungle and moved closer to the boundaries of the airport, the military barracks and warehouses. There they watched large, silver birds rising up to the clouds, maybe even heaven, while making a lot of noise. The Papua tribes got together to talk. What could they do to make the
