About this ebook

Nothing wagered…

Douglas Bennet can't resist a good wager, especially not one that involves a beautiful woman. When a friend proposes an audacious plan to expose the most notorious woman in England, Douglas agrees at once. After all, it would be quite a coup to discover the true identity of Lady Constance, author of the infamous erotic serial scandalizing the ton, 50 Ways to Sin.

Nothing won…

Madeline Wilde is used to being pursued. For years she's cultivated a reputation for being unattainable and mysterious, and for good reason: her livelihood depends on discretion. When Douglas turns his legendary charm on her, she dismisses him as just another rake. But he surprises her—instead of merely trying to seduce her, he becomes her friend…her confidant…and her lover. But can it really lead to happily-ever-after…or are they about to become the biggest scandal London has ever seen?

Just enough angst about size and appearance to get on my chubby and plain shelves. Sweet and fairly simple romance, liked the chemistry between the hero and heroine! (3.5 stars)

A nice story about a woman coming into her own and finding romance with her brother's rakish friend.

I received this from first reads for an honest review. I was really into the book from the very beginning . I loved Joan's character. I'm glad Evangeline taught her to be proud of her height and showed her ways to dress to flatter her figure. The Fifty Ways to Sin books all the women were secretly reading reminded me of course of a olden days Fifty Shades of Grey.Tristan was a scandalous rake but I was rooting for him to get with Joan through it all he was likable and had a good heart. I loved the juicy parts at the end. I'm looking forward to reading the second Scandal book . I really like the author's writing.

I recently discovers Caroline Linden has a well talented author. I have only read one of her books so far, but loved every moment of it. I was very excited when I saw that Love and Other Scandals was available for review through Avon and Edelweiss. The cover alone made me dizzy with excitement. One of the small aspects of the book that I enjoyed, was that in the book the heroine really does where a beautiful gold gown, just like on the cover. It doesn't happen too often, where the cover is what the book is described as. As far as I know this one isn't part of a series, but maybe it will be in the future. I could definitely see potential to see more books connected to this one. I found that Love and other Scandals was a stirring romance tale that enraptures the reader. We see a story that begins with seeing when Joan and Tristan first meet when they are children. Tristan is Joan's brothers best friend, and she finds him a rascal yet charming. Years later, they have both matured and grown up. Tristan had to take over his title when his parents are killed when he is young. Now his reputation is well known all over London as a rake and a scoundrel, and Joan's mother has forbidden her to even dance with him. But one evening, Joan can't resist the temptation, and dances with Tristan, and before she knows it, he is taking her on adventures and sharing sensual embraces with her, and she finds herself falling in love with the man. Tristan may have the reputation of a rake, but he is anything but. He loves pleasure however there is much more to him than meets the eye. He knows that he is perfect for Joan, she completes him in a way that amazes him, he just knows he must have her, but he will have to convince her first of his sincerity and his love.I found Love and Scandals to be a breathtaking tale of sweeping tale of adventure, true love, and makes Regency England come alive with Lindens writing. I found myself falling in love with these characters, there is such a instant passion between the two, but not only that but a bond of friendship forms, and the way the author writes, it is so vividly enchanting, that only captures the readers attention from the beginning. I have to say that I am behind on reading this author. Love and Other Scandals is one of my favorites, and I could help but be swept away by this charming story that won me over from page one. I fully recommend this to anyone that enjoys a fun and witty regency love story.

This book was quite intriguing. I enjoyed it very much. Joan is a bright woman with a taste for adventure which she finds with Tristan - who has a taste for Joan and one for being scandalous! Joan's aunt is also quite a character as well.

Fantastic from start to finish! I didn't want it to end.

This delightful Regency romance features an unlikely heroine- Joan is too tall, too outspoken, and too plump for the fashion of the day. Luckily for Joan, her brother's rakish friend Tristan is able to see beyond her unflattering dresses and hair to the sparkling personality beneath. Watching these two gradually fall in love is very enjoyable, even if the sudden illness departure of her parents seems a little too convenient. I would have liked to see more resolution of aunt Evangeline's love story (though perhaps that will come later in the series). I also thought that Lady Bennett's recovery from what sounded like consumption was a little quick and unrealistic. Regardless, the story is engaging- I loved the description of Tristan's surprise "drive"- and definitely makes me want to read the rest of the series as it is published.

I really enjoyed the first two novels in this series, but this novella was decidedly average. I liked the characters alright, but the plot points were a little contrived feeling, especially toward the end, which started to feel like a caper. The characters sort of needed to make bad decisions in order to move the plot in a certain direction but it didn't feel very believable. Nothing offensive though, just not particularly good.

I LOVED this book. Every bit of it. It made me so happy the entire time, and I wanted it to go on forever. Needless to say (although I of course will) Tristan and Joan are my new favorite couple and Caroline Linden is now on my list of favorite authors! This story enraptured and seduced me from the beginning. The sass was high, the lust was strong, and the love was palpable. It’s as though I can’t speak of this book in terms other than cliche because that’s how happy and light and hopeful it left me. If I could choose an author to write the story of my life and a romance for the history books, it would be Caroline Linden.Honestly if you trust me in any way, if you even just like historical romance, PICK THIS BOOK UP NOW and you will not regret it.

This is a short novella that I read after ‘It Takes a Scandal’ and before ‘Love in the Time of Scandal’. This little gem continues and enhances the Scandals series.

The novella continues the theme of the 50 Ways to Sin pamphlet which is written by “Lady Constance” and is a very salacious piece that’s entertaining men and women alike. The thing is, no one knows who the author is, but a lot of the male readers seem to recognize themselves as the protagonists of her tales.

Hero of this story is Douglas Bennet, whose sister Joan Bennet found her happily ever after in ‘Love and Other Scandals’ the first book in this series.

It doesn’t take much of persuasion to challenge Douglas Bennet to expose the identity of “Lady Constance”. He loves taking chances and this bet, at least to him, looks like a win-win, especially because it involves a beautiful widow, Madeline Wilde.

The heroine, Madeline, is a very proper widow. She’s a bit aloof and quiet, always present at the ballrooms, yet lurking in the background and never, ever dancing. It’s the challenge of luring her into dancing with him that brings both together. When she rebuffs him, he gets even more intrigued and suspicious of her identity as a pamphlet writer.

For me, the sign of a good author is writing a novella that has fleshed out characters, an intriguing plot and a sensual romance, all within only one hundred pages. This is why I called it a gem. Despite it being so short, you’ll be surprised at how well written it is.

The characters are fully developed and funny, while the story is fast paced and intriguing.

Douglas and Madeline’s romance was scorching hot, romantic and funny.

I think it stands on its own and you don’t have to necessarily have read the other two books preceding it. However, once you read this novella, you’ll be running to download the rest. I promise ;)
