    Whispers in the Hearts of Men is a provocative account of historian Richard Chambers’ ordeal as a victim of kidnap in the Middle-East and his reactions to the hopeless and desperate situation. The book also explores the motivation of the kidnappers, who are responding to desperate and desolate conditions of their own. The situation’s resolution has its roots in a shameful event Richard perpetrated over 30 years previously. The event has unforeseen consequences and serves to remind him that however much he might want to forget it, the past matters.

    Robert John Goddard

    Robert John Goddard was born in London in 1952. He has a BA in the History of the Middle East, a Postgraduate Diploma in International Marketing, and a Masters Degree in Education. He has lived and worked in Italy, Portugal, Jordan and Germany. All of his novels contain elements of his experiences in these places. He currently lives near Frankfurt with his German wife and 9-year-old son, Anton. He also has a 34-year-old son, Alexander, from his first marriage. Robert has written 6 novels, several short stories, and a book for university teachers entitled: "Teaching English for International Business."
