About this ebook
Taylor Caldwell can't decide if she wants to kiss her new college roommate, or punch him.
On the one hand, Hunter Zaccadelli is a handsome blueeyed bundle of charm. On the other, he's a tattooed, guitarplaying bad boy. Maybe that's why Taylor's afraid of falling in love with him...or anyone else. She doesn't want to get burned, so she needs him gone before it's too late.
Hunter himself has been burned before, but Taylor's refusal to let him get away with anything makes her irresistible. Determined not to be kicked out of her life without a fight, Hunter proposes a bet: if she can convince him she loves or hates him, he'll leave the apartment for good.
But when the man behind Taylor's fear of giving up her heart resurfaces, she has to decide: trust Hunter with her greatest secret, or do everything in her power to win that bet and drive him away forever.
'A wonderful, captivating and heartbreaking story that pulled me in from page one.' Jessica Sorensen, New York Times bestselling author

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It’s becoming harder and harder to win me over with contemporary romance novels, lately. I find that I’m somewhat picky when it comes to books that sound too similar to ones I’ve already read. So I try to find something different. My Favorite Mistake was one such book that seemed like it could offer something different for me.
One of the things that hooked me in from the beginning was the way Cameron was able to write about college life for these characters, and make me feel like I was back in college again. There was a familiar atmosphere to it all. I did find it a little hard to believe that a college’s housing department wouldn’t have accommodated Taylor’s request to not have Hunter as a roommate. I dont’ have much co-ed dorm experience, but if someone’s uncomfortable, it’s their job to remedy the situation. But after accepting this, I was back into enjoying where the story went and how the author used this detail to her advantage.
The characters are fun to get to know, and again, they act and feel like real college students. There’s nothing extraordinary about them. They go to class, study, hang out together. The focus given to college life in this book isn’t something I find in others. There’s normally a focus on characters and romance, not setting. Hunter was a great character once we get to see a big more of him. Taylor, the narrator, was good as well, if sometimes a bit much to handle reading about from the first person. Seeing her character from the outside might have let me feel for her, or understand her a bit more. They both have their issues that make them who they are and I think the way their conflicts grew into a childlike game, and relationship evolved was a nice touch. There were times when I couldn’t tell what’d happen next. Would there be a fight or a more tame civil moment? It kept me guessing.
Overall I was pleased with the book. It’s a good sign when an author can get me to like the male lead and feel like the romance was never forced. There are many memorable secondary characters in here as well. With this being my first time reading Cameron’s work, I’m looking forward to the others I have on my Kindle. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Many thanks to Elise from MIRA INK for giving me the egalley of this one.
This is by far one of the best New Adult novels I've read lately. It ranks right up there with Abbi Glines' Sea Breeze series. So, if you enjoyed those, you're sure gonna love this one too.
The plot is really nice and simple. There's a tough girl with a past she is running away from. There is also an awesome guy, who hasn't had it all bright and sunny either. There's also a bet. And a very, very sweet punch in the face, that sort of put the wheel spinning.
I can't say that the story is particularly original, but somehow that doesn't really matter. So what if it's boy meets girl and they fall hard for each other? There is no insta-love, so that certainly helps too. Besides, Hunter isn't some bizarre lunatic with a fantasy for male dominance (where most other fictional males are always so commanding, gah!). Actually Hunter is pretty sweet and I liked his love for music and his fierce protectiveness of those he loves. He has his loyalties figured out, and believe it or not, they're in the right place!
Taylor, too, is pretty down to earth. And what I liked the most about her is that she isn't some sex-crazed, boy-depraved idiot, who just can't wait to get laid with the first random guy she meets. Seriously, I've had enough of that scenario to last me a lifetime. In fact, Taylor had real brains in that head of hers, which felt rather refreshing. And so I liked her. I mean, who wouldn't like a girl with actual substance? A character with depth and realistic personality?
The friends on both sides were also super realistic and awesome. They had lives of their own and actually gave great advice when asked for it. Oh, and none of them acted like sex-depraved cats during mating season. Thank my Lord in the highest heavens!
So yeah. If you're into New Adult and still haven't checked this one out, I think it's about time you do. It's worth every single dime.(or penny)(or cent)(or whatever currency you use)Period - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Ahhh, I loved this one.
At the beginning I had a hard time liking the female main character: Tayler is bitchy and at first glance not the most likeable character. BUT her snark grows on you and I continuously liked her more. You learn early on that something happens to her but it takes quite a while till you learn what it was exactly. I had my guess but it wasn't spot on.
Hunter on the other hand appears as goofy guy that has the usual "I'm a bad guy and refuse to fall in love but you'll still love me" routine going. I was glad to see that there's more to him and genuinely liked him for his facetts - don't get me wrong though: the guitar playing, singing and tattoos might have played a part as well ;). I especially loved his little quirks.
The chemistry between the two is obvious and I loved that Taylor didn't simply fall into his bed. There was more to it than a girl and a boy falling in love, it was also about learning to trust others, living with a past that might not be easy and growing into a strong person that can still lean onto loved ones in hard times.
Why are you still reading this stupid review? Go read the book - it's much better than my babbling! - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Maybe 3.5 stars. The heroine runs pretty hot & cold and that got to be a little offputting. I'm a getting a little tired of millionaire & billionaire heroes. But that said, I liked the voice of the book and would definitely read another book by the author.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoyed this book. Taylor, while overly witchy & cautious, is still likeable and Hunter, in all his arrogant ways - some with due reason, is still attractive. These unexpected roommates both carry some pretty dark pasts/secrets from each other. While the tension is always high (Taylor wants him gone and Hunter is just as determined to stay), the chemistry is definitely right there with it. The way these two danced around each other, you couldn't help but cheer for them to get it on already!I can't exactly say it was predictable but it wasn't much of a mystery. It did keep me interested. Steamy scale was just middle of the road, if that's what you are searching for. (It was fine for me, but to each their own.) The build-up was where the money was at in this book.I do plan to read more by this author.I received this book in exchange for an honest review from netgalley.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This was such a surprise to me. The characters are wonderful (and believable), the romance aspect of it is pretty realistic, and the writing was wonderful. The sensitive subject that it deals with was handled pretty good.
I loved the dynamic between Hunter and Taylor. A bit angsty, snappy dialogue, lots of sexual tension. I loved their friendship, then I loved their relationship. It was great to read.
Hunter is almost too dreamy. Smart, funny, good looks, great cook, overall a fun guy. Their first encounter was funny.
I definitely recommend this read. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I had the pleasure of receiving this book to review from Chelsea, specifically for this blog tour. I am almost 100% sure that I haven't been more happy that I decided to join a tour. This book seriously rocked.my.life. Then again, you pretty much know a book is going to rock when the very first thing you read is:The first day I met Hunter Zaccadelli, I punched him in the face.In this book we get to see Taylor & Hunter each battle their own demons. What an enthralling, bumpy and tear worthy ride it was taking that journey with them! & to think - it all began with college dorm room assignments. Upon finding out that Hunter was going to be her (and her friends) dorm mate - & their first meeting being just shy of a natural disaster, Taylor set out to get Hunter removed as her roommate. Hunter, however - has other plans. What kind of plans, exactly? Let me give you a sneak peek!“I want you. Right now. If you said yes, I would kiss you. I would kiss you until we both forgot that lips were made for anything other than kissing. I'd take you out of that outfit, as cute as it is. I want to see what you look like with nothing on. I want to make you sigh like you did with the cake. I want to be with you. Right now.”He comes up with a bet. She can either prove she legit loves him - or legit hates him, by the end of the 1st semester. Easy right? - Yea; that is what Taylor thought - until Hunter started getting under her skin. She is almost convinced she has whiplash with the ping pong match that is there emotions that is constantly at play. Despite it all; the two form a friendship that has both its ups and downs, but also gets them through the good and the bad. Chelsea wrote a story that flowed effortlessly and literally keeps you turning the pages to see where she is going to take you. The chemistry is nothing short of perfect and I found myself laughing over and over again at the smart-ass/witty dialogue.Cameron also wrote some very well sculpted secondary characters. The friends and family that stand behind both Taylor & Hunter help mold the story and made the transitions in plot that much more smooth. If you love your romance with a side of freaking epic - then My Favorite Mistake is def a read for you! Hot, addicting and heartwarming, Chelsea M. Cameron has written nothing short of an amazing story.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Awesome book! Love Hunter! Can't wait for #2!!!!!!!!!
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Don't waste your time . Just another book bitten by the Travis-Maddox-walker . (If you follow the Walking Dead , you'll understand )
Awful . JUST Awful . - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Taylor really is an angry girl. I was kind of getting mad at Taylor since Hunter was opening up to her telling her all his secrets but she was less than forth coming with him. You can't help but fall in love with Hunter he was a Sweet Bad Boy! Most of the things that Taylor claimed Hunter was doing or say that made him an ass seemed rather mild to me & when he really exploded on her I thought she kind of had it coming. There was a lot of sexual tension. A few sex scenes that were tame but loving. Fairly good ending meaning it had closure but left you wanting more. From what I read from the author there will be a book 2.
Quotes:
"Everyone says they want to know you, but they don't. They want to know the nice things, the pretty things. No one wants to know the ugly parts, the parts that keep you up at night. They say they're okay with it, but then they drift away and you never see them again. I've seen it happen way to many times. Girls don't want to know that shit."
"Love is simple. You fall and that's it. You'll work the other stuff out. You just gotta let yourself fall and have faith that someone will be there to catch you."
"Told you, Miss. Everything before you doesn't matter."
