About this ebook

Passion is on the cards for two reckless rogues as K. J. Charles ups the ante in her Society of Gentlemen series with a sizzling eBook short story.

The youngest son and the blackest sheep in his family, Lord Gabriel Ashleigh never imagined he could sink so low. Though he’s a notoriously bad gambler, he takes on the formidable but strangely alluring Francis Webster, only to lose everything: all his money, the lovely estate he inherited from his aunt, and any hope of future happiness. So it’s a shock when Webster summons him to a private game for a chance to win back his possessions. The stake? If he fails, Ash must surrender his body.

Francis has been waiting years for this moment. At Eton, Ash’s elder brother harassed him relentlessly. Now, consumed by lust and rage, Francis is only too happy to exploit Ash’s foolish indiscretions. But as Francis strips the magnificently built youth—first of his family assets, then his clothes—he begins to wonder whether he’s been plotting revenge . . . or exquisite seduction.

In this historical romance novella, gambling debts and long-standing animosity and attraction lead to an evening of revelations and sex between Gabriel Ashleigh and Francis Webster. Entertaining with a decent amount of characterization in so short a piece.

A very fun short read about two characters introduced in A Fashionable Indulgence, Gabriel Ashleigh and Francis Webster. While it doesn't delve into the issues AFI does, it gives the back story of Gabriel and Francis, which is nice to have. It's not necessary to have read AFI-- it helps some, but I think reading this first would add insight when reading AFI.

I love the attention paid to detail about Regency period--the men were _all_ about fashion, and KJ Charles knows what she's talking about. Some might think that there's too much detail, but that's really what the period was about--an excess on behalf of the gentry that exacerbated the divide between the landed gentlemen and the working class (hm, sound familiar?). The detail is all important, because that's what they lived and breathed. Cuts to one's wardrobe were taken seriously. It's like Mean Girls, only it's Mean Guys. And I think it's fascinating that the men were just as obsessed about their clothes as women were always portrayed to be. It's a wonderful insight, and very artfully done. A Fashionable Indulgence shows this in greater depth, so if you've tried this first, and liked it, you'll love AFI!

Short story in which foolish gambling leaves Gabriel Ashleigh at the mercy of his worst enemy (who was tormented by Gabriel’s awful brother at school, though Gabriel is not innocent of offense either). You’ll never guess how he might pay off his debt …. The ultimate sex isn’t coerced, though.

I wasn't really feeling the setup for this, but once the main characters started interacting it took off and piqued my interest. It does a good job of conveying a whole story in so few pages, especially with like half of those dedicated to steam, lol. Both characters grew on me, and I felt happy for them and sort of hopeful for their future. =D

Lovely sexy D/s deliciousness. The tipping point in D/s stories for me is when they start to involve props and costumes and "scenes" because that stuff gets Really Really Old IRL. Simply put, if I have to be wearing mirror shades for you to obey my command not to touch yourself, you're too damned high maintenance for me.So this story, Gabriel's eager and ecstatic submission to Francis because he chooses to, because he longs for the safety of being the emotional center of a man's life, resonates positively with me. Francis claims ownership with the simplest, most effective technique of them all: Renaming. Everyone calls him Ash, so Francis will call him Gabriel. Francis will weave this identity into all their play, into the fabric of their lives, invoking it to love, to honor, to possess and caress and own his beautiful angel.Better than a dozen complicated knots in red silk cords, and all the leather bits'n'bobs that drama queens so love, any day in my book.

Sadly, I wanted more Ash than this. Impressive understanding of character in a few pages, but just tooo short.
