What the Outlaw Likes MC Romance - Samantha Leal

    1.

Madison twiddled her thumbs as she looked at the guy beside her. Even in the half light, she was sure that he had been better looking in his profile picture. The trailers reeling in front of them were action packed and not at all romantic, and she was glad. After having to endure a meal with him for well over an hour, where the conversation barely got started, she just wanted to sit quietly before getting the hell out of there.

She had been open minded about the dating game when she moved to the city. She had promised herself that she would put herself out there and meet as many new people as possible, but this wasn’t the first time she had found herself on a bad date. She decided right then and there that it was time to delete the app that had been finding her these men. When she had hit ‘like’ on Ben’s picture, she had seen his golden tan, blue eyes, and gorgeous smile... The second she had seen him in person, it was more than apparent that he had used a heavy set of filters and a lot of Photoshop. His skin was pockmarked and gray and his eyes were heavy and dark with circles ringing underneath. He had shaken her hand weakly and led her to the only restaurant in town she didn’t like, and when he started to tell her all about his career as a gas station attendant, she knew it was time to call it a night. But in classic Madison style, she hadn’t wanted to hurt his feelings. Instead of making up an excuse, she smiled sweetly and went with him to the movie. She let him buy her popcorn and a soda, she let him choose the seats, and she even let him drape his arm lightly over her shoulder as the lights began to dim. Even though she wanted the ground to open and swallow her up, she couldn’t bring herself to be rude to him. He was trying so hard, and she was doing all that she could to just get through the night.

As the movie began, she squinted and strained her eyes to try and find some small resemblance to the photograph he had used on FunCityDate, the app they met through, but she was at a loss. The handsome tan and baby blues were nowhere to be seen. She tucked her chin into her chest and sighed.

You okay? he whispered over the opening music.

    She smiled and nodded.

Would it be so bad to pretend to go to the bathroom and never come back? she thought before she immediately dismissed the idea with a smirk.

An hour and a half later, they were back outside on the street after possibly one of the worst action movies she had ever seen. He shrugged and apologized
