    Before you stop reading I want to tell you that I am highly conviced that most private investors have the capability to smartly invest in the stock market. And I am an ex-portfolio manager from Frankfurt am Main, Germany, who is willing to share what he has learned in years as a private investor and as a professional fund manager. In most developed countries an alcohol-free cocktail is more expensive than this guide. So do I think that I offer enough „bang for the buck“? Yes, I do. There is a huge leverage when you compare the price of this guide to the amounts you will invest in the stock market over the years. If this guide can only marginally improve your upcoming performance, the return on investment should be very good when it comes to this guide.
    Do I want you to stop investing in funds? No. Do I say that you should invest on your own because you will do it better than professional fund managers? No. I got to know various very, very good fund managers. The difficult things is to tell good and bad managers apart. But that would fill a whole book and is not the goal of this guide.
    If you anyway invest in stocks yourself, than this guide is helpful. I do not want to persuade anyone to invest in stocks. This book is for those who are already investors eager to improve the performance.

    The author was working as a portfolio manager in the institutional asset management area and as an investment advisor in the private wealth management section. This experience as a professional investor and advisor was essential to understand how the financial world works. As a private investor the author has a long-term goal of a competitive total return. Long-term means: it is about his retirement plan and not about the next few years. His education consisted of: - Apprenticeship in a bank - Study at the University in Germany (degree comparable to a master's degree) - CFA Charterholder (CFA Institute) In addition he read many, many books about stocks from well known investors and authors in order to learn from them. You can also be sure that he read a variety of books from and about the the most famous investors in the world. So in the end you can fairly say that he collected a lot of information over the years and he tried to summarize important information in this guide for you and other private investors.
