About this ebook

This book has been written to provide a structured method of facilitating risk workshops. The book concentrates on the identification of risks but also provides risk management context with information on risk assessment and risk treatment. Projects are the focus of the book but the same concepts and tactics apply to corporate and risk management within small/medium business.

Many years ago I was asked to facilitate a risk workshop. I had participated in a few but they did not have any structure and I thought they had been poorly run. I wanted to do better and was certain that there would be some widely accepted concepts and theories that could be applied to a workshop methodology. I searched extensively and started to gather information on how to improve on risk workshop facilitation. Since that first workshop I have since facilitated or participated in hundreds of risk workshops, all the while researching, testing and observing tactics in pursuit of establishing an improved workshop methodology. This book is the culmination of this work. I hope that by sharing this book I can help those looking to run outstanding risk workshops.
