About this ebook
George Parker was sitting at home when he received a telegram from the Space administration. About to open the telegram there was a knock on his door. Opening the door, he saw two huge military police standing there. "Commander Parker?" asked one of the two. "We are here to take you to the administration." Would it be okay if I read the telegram I just received? asked Parker and followed the two policemen to the administrations building. Arriving there, he was taken up to General Stuart's office. "George Parker! So nice to see you again," said the general. "The administration voted unanimously for you to test our latest space ship, the Vega. Would you accept the commission? The crew and the ship are waiting for you George. Can I tell them that you accepted the honor?"
"Yes of course I accept," answered Parker. Then he was taken to the space ship Vega, standing on the platform with a full crew waiting for him. Parker was surprised when he saw his own crew standing next to the huge space ship. After all the greetings from Bill the engineer, Pete the navigator and Julie in charge of the armament, George Parker felt good to have his old crew back. The first part of the test flight went perfect. Now they had to connect the super drive, for the next part of the test flight. When arriving back to normal space speed, Pete, the navigator said that they had arrived at the wrong part of the universe, "I have no idea where we are, and our computer said the same thing." Now the real test started, would our crew of four be able to stand against a ruthless civilization that had put more than half of their own universe under its control?

It was a cold miserable autumn morning in late September when George Parker got this seemingly important telegram from the Administration. As he was about to open the telegram to read it, there was a knock at his door. Two huge military police personnel stood outside his door. They told Parker to follow them to the Space Administrations Headquarter.
"Would you gentlemen mind if I finish reading the telegram I received from the Administration? George asked.
The Space Administration Headquarters had called Commander George Parker and with the help of the military escort, he as usual arrived a few minutes early in the military limousine. Looking at the building as he waited for the military chauffeur to open the car door, he thought. These glass buildings look like big aquariums, must be dead boring to work in one of these offices, and how can they protect themselves from a terrorist attack?
The military personnel showed George Parker up to General Stuart floor. George had to wait for a short while as the General had an earlier appointment.
General Stuart came out and greeted George. Good to see you again George,
he said as he ushered George into his office space, a space not less than two thousand square feet. Have you heard about our new space ship that now is ready for testing?
he asked, while lightening his pipe.
I have heard some rumors about it, but nothing concretes,
answered George Parker as he gave the usual courtesy to the General. General Stuart, why do you have such a huge office? Twenty-five percent of this space would be more than you'll ever need, or use.
I love to play golf,
answered the General. With the space, I have here, I can do a lot of practice, and without this space here. I would not be able to practice, would I? However, to your commission George the ship, we named it Vega, she is ready for her first test flight. The administration voted unanimously for you George to be the commander on this maiden voyage. Do you have any problems with this appointment George?
No not if I can keep my old crew,
answered Parker, looking at his old friend, and boss he continued. "You know that it is not only I, which had achieved the results, it is the combination of the whole crew, my crew.
Sorry George, the United Space Administration has the crew already booked in. The Administration ruled about the crew. There wasn’t anything that I could do against their decision. The crew is out by the ship; they are all of them out there waiting for you. There is a military vehicle outside the building waiting to take you to platform nine, where your new command is waiting for you George. Have a good flight and make us proud of you. I understand that she is the fastest ship ever built, so be careful, and she is fully armed, part of the testing,
said the old General as he shook hands with George and followed him to the door.
George Parker leaving his old friend took the administration's military vehicle out to platform nine. To meet his new crew and the new space ship Vega.
Arriving at the platform, he was amazed at the size of the ship. "This ship must be at least thirty stories tall. And that old-fashioned elevator to get the crew
