About this ebook
In a world where vengeance, resentment, malice, anger, bitterness is the order of the day among many, Forgiveness is rarely taught and emphasized. Therefore, a man or woman who forgives is seen as weak. Nothing could be further from the truth. This book confronts Unforgiveness as a spiritual poison ravaging the church today and highlights the benefits and rewards of forgiveness. Courage Igene carefully lays out the importance of freeing yourself from the pain that keeps you bound. Living in unforgiveness is like drinking poison and waiting for someone else to die. If we must live a Holy Spirit led life here on earth and ensure that making Heaven is guaranteed, this book is constant reminder of how Forgiveness is God’s roadmap to Heaven.

Forgiveness - Courage Igene
INTRODUCTION
April 2015. Sitting next to a lady in her 60’s in an airplane, as I traveled to Dallas TX, a conversation began between us. She shared her life story with me. Twenty minutes later, I could tell you where she was born, that she served at her local church as a Sunday School teacher, her job description, where she worked, and everything else, even though all this information was unsolicited. Suddenly, I noticed her countenance fell into a semi-depressive state as she lamented about a man; He was evil, I will never forget all the hurt he caused me.
I asked gently; Who are you talking about ma’am?
She replied with an aggressive tone; My ex!
I asked further, How long have you guys been divorced?
She replied; Oh...Since 1979...!
I did not know if I should laugh or cry...I replied with an outburst of Wow...!
In a time when Unforgiveness has eaten into the fabric of Christian life, the Body of Christ is breeding many emotionally, psychologically and spiritually wounded believers around the world.
In a time when we are not taught how to forgive our neighbors and let go of offenses, we are transferring our hurts to the next generation.
In a time when eighty percent (80%) of the world`s attorneys live in the United States, lawsuits are rampant; suing one another is what we do to resolve issues. Children are suing their parents, parents are suing their siblings, husbands are suing wives, church members are suing pastors and the lawyers are happy. But at the end of the court battle, the emotional hurt only intensifies. All of this happen because someone has refused to forgive their neighbor.
In the Bible, the word Forgive
appears 56 times in the Old Testament and 33 times in the New Testament. The word Forgiven
appears 17 times in the Old Testament and 28 times in the New Testament. And the word Forgiving
appears 6 times in the Old Testament and 1 time in the New. With so much biblical emphasis on this subject, it remains the least preached subject on pulpits today. Even though Forgiveness remains God`s roadmap to Heaven, many believers ignore this truth because it goes against the grain of their flesh and makes them uncomfortable.
Pastor Daniel Ekechukwu, Senior Pastor of Power Chapel Evangelical Church, Nigeria, died in an accident. He was escorted by angels and shown Heaven and Hell. After showing him Hell, the escorting angel told Pastor Daniel, If your record is to be opened, you will, in no doubt be thrown into hell.
Pastor Daniel immediately defended himself saying, I am a man of God! I serve Him with all my heart!
But a Bible appeared in the angel’s hand, and it was opened to Matthew 5 where Jesus warned that if one calls his brother a fool he is guilty enough to go into the hell of fire (see Matt. 5:21-22). Pastor Daniel knew he was guilty for the angry words he had spoken to his wife. The angel also reminded him that Jesus promised that God will not forgive our sins if we do not forgive others (see Matt. 6:14-15), because we will reap what we have sown. Only those who are merciful will obtain mercy (Matt 5:7). The angel told Daniel that the prayers he prayed as he was dying in the hospital were of no effect, because he refused to forgive his wife even when she attempted to reconcile on the morning of his fatal accident.
Pastor Daniel wept at this revelation, but the angel told him not to cry, because God was going to send him back to the earth to grant the rich man’s request (see Luke 16:27-30). A man would come back from the dead and warn people of hell. The angel said that Daniel’s resurrection would serve as a sign and be the last warning for this generation.
Forgiveness liberates, whereas Unforgiveness is an enemy whom you must avoid. This book takes you on a journey of healing so nothing hinders your fellowship and relationship with God. As you read and study with an open heart, your roadmap to heaven is secured in Jesus Name!
FORGIVENESS
Love and forgiveness are the only requirements necessary to secure your salvation. No matter what your title is, where your church is located, or how much knowledge you have, if you do not have love and cannot forgive your brother or sister, heaven will be beyond your reach. Jesus told everyone who sinned and came to him, Go, your sins are forgiven.
We have all sinned and come short of God’s glory.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)
It does not say some have sinned
it says ALL
so no one is exempted.
"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." (1 John 1:8)
Not only have we all sinned, we have been forgiven, but we still fall short sometimes. We all have shortcomings and vices in our lives
