Introduction
Sad but true, I was once one of those people who thought that you could only cook certain types of foods (mostly Asian) in a wok. I never had one until a friend of mine brought hers over and said this is for you.
I worked with a few recipes and soon I was just hooked on cooking with it. There has been very little that I have not at least tried to cook in my lovely wok. It heats up quickly, stays hot much longer than all but my cast iron pans and the sides mean that I can practice chef
stuff and not slop everything right on to the floor. That is a huge bonus right there, I will tell you.
Let me tell you a few things about me and it will help you better understand this book and the recipes. I am basically lazy, so you are only going to find a handful of more complicated recipes here. You can save those for dinners with the company or when you want to impress someone special. Most of the dishes here are easy with easy to find, affordable ingredients and are all cooked right in the wok. A few will use another pan and will have more than a few steps, but those are awesome enough to include.
Personally, I am a vegetarian with a supreme love of all things garlicky, so garlic does figure prominently here. You will also see dishes with varying levels of heat. I will warn you about heat level where appropriate and along the way I will offer substitutions and handy tips to make the dish perfect for your family.
