Laurie gritted his teeth against the pain, as he stared at his enemy, who sat slumped against the cave wall. The enemy was pointing his gun at him, barrel shaking slightly from the effort. Laurie felt his own arm struggle to keep his weapon upright, but tried not to let it show. Sweat trickled down his face, and sometimes his vision blurred. He must have lost a lot of blood.

Wanna make a deal, Moon boy? his opponent said. Laurie cocked his head. He smacked his lips before answering- he was so thirsty, but if he tried to get a drink the other guy would shoot him in an instant.

I'm not Moon blood, if that's what you mean, he replied. The opponent guffawed, careful not to let it affect the gun that was still trained on him.

My family and friends. My people. Your people would nuke us in an instant if you could... Laurie felt his cheeks grow hot. Who was this guy to question his loyalty? His morals?

He took a closer look at the man. He was in his early thirties, shaven head, close cropped beard, ice blue eyes. He could have been mistaken for one of the Moon people. His uniform was ragged, and the entry wound looked like just another tear in the fabric. Laurie knew the exit wound in his
