Go Higher With God - Kelechi Nicholas Nzeocha

    Chapter One

    God in Us

    Mathew 5 vs 13-20

You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

There is a huge difference between when I was not a believer and a born-again Christian and now. While the difference was not noticed by everyone around me in the beginning, eventually, it was felt at some stage. One of the reasons some people rose against Jesus Christ was because He acted differently and brought what the people considered as a strange doctrine.

The truth of the matter is that there must be a difference between a believer and a non-believer. Those around you must be able to feel that difference that is in you which is the light of the Lord. Whether it be your lifestyle, your vision and dreams, all must reveal that Christ resides in you. The light of the Lord in you must shine forth to the world around you.

This is why you are an ambassador of Jesus Christ here on earth. There are a lot of people that may not like your godly life, but the most important thing is that you are fulfilling the will of God on earth and the Holy Spirit will continue to strengthen you.

    Chapter Two

You Must Be Perfected In Love

    Mathew 5 vs 44-48

But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you. That you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

All of my life, I have not seen one single individual that is perfect or would even be perfect in this life. Even many of those who have achieved some level of happiness and success in life still have lots of problems. So, why would God want us to be perfect even when it is clear that we can never be perfect in this life? The Bible made it clear that we are all sinners.

Here again, we must never forget the true intention of God for man from the beginning when He created man. He specifically designed man to live in perfection and when sin came, that purpose was damaged. But through Jesus Christ, as God’s creation, we now have the opportunity to continue the process towards perfection.

God demonstrated and initiated this move through His act of love for us by sending Jesus Christ to us that we may be reconciled to Him. As we do the will of God on earth by obeying His words, we are also demonstrating that same love to God, to ourselves and to everyone that we meet or come across in this life. Hence, the act of love is our journey towards perfection in life.

    Chapter Three

You Should See God In Whatever You Do

    Mathew 6 vs 1-18

Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly. Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

Even after I have given my life to Christ for so many years, sometimes, I did realize that I had expected to receive praise and glory from men. This is one of the reasons why God wants us to always be fed by His word so that we can grow spiritually in Him. But God’s word was very clear to me as I began to receive with my whole heart.

I remember having helped some of my closest friends some years again, but for some reason, I had expected that they would be grateful and at least show it to me one way or the other. But I was totally wrong because all I got from them was a stab in the back. But God will always be right, and that is why we must be ready to lean on His word always.

God sees and knows everything that we do on earth and nothing is counted out. If we constantly keep seeking God, the Holy Spirit will help us to see God in our dealings with our fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord and every other person that we come across in life.

We do this knowing that surely, there is a reward and that our reward will come from God, not man. Whether in the church or our workplace, whether we are before our pastor or boss, we must see God in everything that we do and do it to the praise of God.

    Chapter Four

Your Life Is Like A Seed

    Mathew 6 vs 19-22

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good,
