Summary Station
“The Obstacle is the Way” by Ryan Holiday is a well written book with plenty of interesting stories from real people most of us know. Ryan Holiday, however, goes past the usual information and also shows us which challenges those people had to face before they had their big breakthroughs. He uses these examples to take the reader on a journey through some of the main ideas behind the old philosophical school of Stoicism.

About Summary Station
Introduction
What is the book about?
The Obstacle is the Way
by Ryan Holiday is a mix of philosophy and self help book, and targets educated readers who would either like to achieve more in their life, or who would like to find ways to overcome the various obstacles their life presents to them.
The book consists of three main parts: perception, action, and will. Each part is divided into a variety of sub-chapters that explore how the combination of a change of your perception, a different attitude towards action, and the right command of your will can make all the difference in your life. Each sub-chapter tells at least one story of a (more or less) famous person who used Stoic principles to overcome an obstacle, and uses those stories to explain the various points the book makes.
