Throwing Away God
()
About this ebook
Throwing Away God is a God-inspired unconventional five-chapter book that uses the writings of the bible to alert the reader to five false premises taught within today's denominational church system. It exposes them as theological dogma and frees the spiritual essence of the Bible's teachings. Premises are unmasked that impede the very path to the goal Christians claim to be seeking. And that goal is to be one with the Father himself, even as Jesus was one. It uncovers by the writings of the King James Version of the Bible in a systematic way these premises and their dangers and seeks to prove the way of faith and hearing from God for oneself is and has always been God's perfect plan.
The book exposes these falsehoods and exhorts the reader to question things he has been taught by humans and instead seek God's revelation directly. It exhorts the reader not to be a conformist but rather to uncover the simplicity of God's church and knowing Him. It brings one back to the very foundation of the New Testament Church. The foundation that is hearing directly from the Father himself by seeking our hope in knowing God through Christ in us, our hope of God's presence. It points to Christ, the anointing of the Spirit of God as the true teacher of all truth rather than a man or a book. It is a book for the world of religion for the 21st century!
Throwing Away God addresses and benefits three groups of people. Firstly, it will benefit new Christians who have been born again. The book points out the dangers of placing one's faith back in doctrines of men. They will be exhorted to continue with their first love rather than allow themselves to be put under the bondage of organized denominations and their man-made ordinances and doctrines. Secondly, it will benefit the long-term Christian who has been bombarded with premises accepted by men through ignorance. Christians that have made themselves subject to men who have left their first love. Men who neither enter into the kingdom of God themselves nor suffer others that are entering to go in. Christians who have been caught up in the organized denominational system and got on the path of doctrines and ordinances and works through their own understanding and trust in men. Long-term Christians who know there is something more but have forgotten what the true church and a personal relationship with God is all about. Thirdly, it will benefit those who have never had a personal relationship with God because of their exposure to the church system and its unacceptable dogma and hypocrisy. For them it will be enlightening and create hope and provoke faith to touch God for themselves.

Foreword by Reader
Here is a book all people who take their spiritual journey seriously, particularly those of Christian heritage, will find fascinating, challenging, and ultimately uplifting. Joseph Mattioli takes up the most fundamental and important ideas of Christianity to give them fresh perspective and deeper meaning, Preaching no doctrine nor wishing to start a new sect, he is a rare thinker, exhorting his readers in the end to search for themselves for spiritual truth. Using Biblical scripture throughout the book, he turns us to conclusions that are far from the conventional teachings of most Christian churches.
Offering his brief thoughts and Biblical scriptures hand-in-hand, he takes his readers on a spiritual journey over familiar ground, where many may have once started and helps them to see it for the first time. His originality, clarity, and freshness along with his Biblical scholarship make for a compelling read. Unconventional-yes! Unorthodox—yes! But far from being a critical negation of the Bible, it is a powerful affirmation of its deepest messages. And though the journey may be difficult, challenging, or shocking in places, it brings with it new opportunities for greater spiritual vitality and a more profound personal connection with God.
Authors Note
Foreword is printed word for word as written by a reader of a pre-published proof copy of this book. Author claims no scholarly ability, but rather inspiration directly from God. If there be any praise in this work, let it be known from the start, it is a gift.
Preface
False Premises
The things that make up one’s belief system are very important. These things shape the very life of the person and those around him. The majority of people at one time believed the world was flat. They believed to sail out from land too far was certain death. From their vantage point, it appeared that this was true, as they were limited by their physical sight of things, limited experience, and what others in authority taught. Believing this, they limited their knowledge of things not to the truth, but to the world as it existed to them.
On a more personal scale, we find people who believe that other people are responsible for the actions that we take. This belief is re-enforced by one’s constant reactions to what other people do or say. This is a common premise, perception, or
belief that exists in our society today.
The words of others can provoke reactions of happiness, sadness, anger, hate, prejudice, love, violence, silence, and a multitude of other patterns in behavior. These patterns are sometimes considered good and sometimes considered bad. Many times this behavior is unwanted. Never the less, he or she follows through in the behavior, being compelled by the belief that the other person is responsible for this reaction. The reaction is justified by believing the other person or persons have brought this response on by their words or action. The one who reacted takes little or no responsibility for their own actions and has acted in bondage to their belief.
The relevant point and truth is that the receiver creates the reaction experience. The receiver is the one who gives power to these words or actions of others. There is no power in the words or actions of themselves. Yet the receiver by his belief cannot see this truth because he or she does not take responsibility or accountability for their own experience.
You cannot change others! You can only change yourself! You can influence others and provide a stimulus for a change, but a decision to modify behavior has to be done by the individual. When one acknowledges the truth, that we are accountable
for our life, it is then possible to change our life and reactions to the things around us. You cannot change the things you do not acknowledge!
A great example is the alcoholic who will not admit he is an alcoholic. Why will he change if his belief is that he doesn’t have a problem or the need to change? Until he believes the truth and acknowledges true responsibility he is destined to be in bondage to his belief.
Religion is no different. The things that a man or woman believes about God has much to do with life and its quality. These beliefs shape their lives. Belief in these false premises in religion holds one in bondage, even as the alcoholic is held in bondage. God is Truth. In effect, believing in false premises is at least in part, throwing away God.
