One Cubit Below Sea Level: The Old Shootout at the Noway Corral
The Leviathan saw his breath protrude from his lips and placed his hand toward the fire. He moved his butt, on the log, which he sat upon and after a pause he moved a smidge more toward the fire. He grabbed his steel coffee cup. He slowly sipped his hot coffee and chicory mix. He heard the crackle of the fire as the snowflakes landed on his oversized white cowboy hat. He always sported the white hat, which was one size too large so he wore a blue bandanna, which made it fit nice and snug. It was for this reason that the hat never flew off during a gunfight or on the run.
Avast! From hell's heart, I have my gunpoint at thee!
yelled Ahab, Keep thee hands high and thee fingers split, you dirty buzzard of a man!
The Leviathan slowly raised his hands with his fingers split as widely as he could. He estimated that the man yelling, from behind him, was 12 to 17 feet away. Leaning against his sitting log, he eyeballed his double-barrel 12 gauge shotgun, which was four feet away. As he heard footsteps coming toward him, he quickly dived behind the log, grabbing his double-barrel and firing a blind shot.
Ahab fell screaming in pain. He grab below his knee only to touch nothing but the blood flowing from his mutilated leg. His back was on the foot and lower leg that was once attached to his body. Screaming he quickly took his red bandana from his neck and tied it just above the opening. His eyes scrambled around for a stick. Holding the bandana with one hand, he stretched out as far as he could with the other. The tip of his finger barely touched an ample sized stick, sliding it inward
