Description

In this discussion, Asar Imhotep will reassess the common understandings of African spirituality and provide an updated analysis rooted in over a decade's worth of research as a practitioner of African spiritual systems, and a student of history. Throughout this discourse, an attempt to dispel the common myths surrounding African spiritual philosophy and practices will be conducted using the analytic tools of comparative religion, comparative historical linguistics and cultural anthropology. The aim of this lecture is to help advance public discourse on African spirituality in an effort to realign the collective African community with its intended spiritual aims and its expected outcomes.
