— Albert Einstein
ALLEN AND MIKE WERE students of the same school in second grade. They went to school by the same school bus, stayed in the same locality, and played together in the same park nearby. As time passed, they became very good friends. Allen's dad, Jacob, and Mike's dad, Henry, also got to know each other and became close friends.
Once, Jacob and Henry were sitting together in the park while their children played, and they began discussing the issues they were facing in their professional and day to day life. Henry worked in a finance company whereas Jacob worked in a logistics company. Henry told Jacob that he had a lot of ambitions in life but certain things prevented him from growing. Jacob was surprised, and asked him What problems?
Henry said that he lacks public speaking ability and communicational skills that his job demands. In his childhood, he had never paid any attention to these things. Despite his best efforts, he was not able to improve now, and that has restricted his professional growth. Jacob agreed with Henry and said that although he himself can communicate effectively, he lacks other skills such as analytical skills and is bad at writing. In school and college, it is easy to acquire any skill, but later in life, it always becomes challenging due to many personal as well as professional commitments.
What Will Happen?
They introspected, and thought, what if the same thing happened to their children? What if, later on, they also faced similar difficulties in their professional life? They became really worried about their future. Henry said, Something needs to be done for their skill development, and we can't ignore it
. After discussing at length, they decided to take professional help. Suddenly, Jacob said, I once met a person named David when he visited my office a few months ago, who is a mentor in skill development and a very learned person
. Wow! We should immediately contact David and take his advice
, Henry said. The next day in office, Jacob searched out the contact of David and spoke to him about their problem. He called him to discuss everything he and his friend Henry were facing. David could hear Jacob's voice breaking, and he sensed how worried they were about their children's future. David listened very attentively and then suggested, "Let's have a meeting to discuss the details in
