    Unsatisfied vanity

    No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't see her own reflection in the vanity mirror. Maybe it was one of Henry's jokes, her husband. I'm a fool, I'll just admire myself in the dressing room. When she walked in, there was no one there, not even her. What's going on, she thought, genuinely worried. The mirror in the bathroom was the only one left, so she went there quickly, to no avail either. With her face soaked with tears, she knelt on the floor without noticing how cold the tiles were. Feeling a little bit more relieved, a glimmer of hope broke through her intense trepidation. I will call Lucy, my maid. I'm sure she'll clear up this whole damn thing.

    She did not have to call her; Lucy appeared at the end of the corridor, carrying a set of towels. She crossed the wide room and entered the bathroom, passing through the ghost of her late lady.
