    Foreward

Over time these has been a wide range of questions about the importance of sufi, some even go against it without asking what its rudiment is or what purpose does it serve in Islamic culture, here comes a comprehensive explanation on it. Sufism serves as the mode of devotional practice, particularly other forms of worship that are not supererogatory.

Similarly, it is an addition to the list of Islamic literature that is currently in existence. Reading this text provides an avenue for thorough Islamic practice. The book is written lucidly in a language understood by sizeable percentage of the environment where it was written.

The Author set out in the first discourse to give a literal definition of Al-Insaan—Forgetfuls. He admonished that it is only Dhikri—Remembrance that can get us out of this state of forgetfulness.

He asserted that giving out from personal possession can make us beat the odds of Shaytan as it is this elements of wealth that the devil employed in putting us in a state of forgetfulness.

The second discourse is why forgetting? The Author observed that man is the worst ingrate among other creature. In this discourse, he gave four cardinal points why man is spiritually bankrupt. He called these animalistic factors: food, play, sleep & sexual intercourse. This was treated deeply pointing out how it can circumvent us in the proper remembrance of Allah.

The third discourse talks about the role of forgetfulness, he stated that is spite of efforts made by different religious bodies alongside the mass media, man’s mind is still in a state of forgetfulness. He cautioned that we should not allow this to have a pride of place in our heart because forgetfulness brings about disobedience.

Discourse four takes us to the contextual definition of Dhikir which is the core value of the text. I have to confess that Dhikir is more than what I hitherto knew it to be because, the values are broken down as to remember, to praise, to rehearse, to celebrate and to cherish the memory as a precious possession.

In discourse five, he positioned that for one to grow in spirit, Dhikir is sine quo non: the Author asserted that Dhikir is the main energy while other forms are synergic and a general therapy for that matter. He added that it is only Dhikir that can veer us away from self esteem and return us to the consciousness of the Almighty Allah.

He also identified in this segment, fear, anger and envy as terrible disease of the mind. Also raised is the fundamental issue of quality concentration and meaning of what is being chanted for one to reach the desired goal.

The book takes us to Discourse six which tells the stories of some Prophets and the benefits of Dhikir in their life. A reference point was Prophet Yunus who was salvaged by Dhikir while in the belly of a Whale.

Also, lessons derived from Sufi-student of Sheikhs Ghazali and Junayd were great food for thought. This chapter was concluded with a poetic passage of 13 lines having love as its theme.

The seventh segment takes us through the Qur`an and other forms of Dhikir and their relativity, in reading the Qur`an as a form Dhikir, it tells us the life histories of the past and the lesson/messages inherent in it.

The eighth discourse is about intention as basis for all deeds. He stressed that intention and good deeds is in straight path to Allah’s favour. It is written here that guidance is light and light is for the pious.

Discourse 9 took us through the methods of operation of the Tariqah (The Path). The intricacies and spirituality were well examined. Evidently written that the 5 daily prayers is a form of Dhikir.

Like he said, he is by no means intended to convince his reader on the veracity of Tariqah but to highlight the importance of Dhikir vis-à-vis the operation of Tariqah.

The last discourse brought us to the need for man to surrender his mind totally in Dhikir because the physical body is darkness while the soul is an illuminating facility. He cautioned that this can only be achieved with a pure mind that is devoid of material urge.

We beseech the Almighty Allah to add to his blessings and reward him for this work of Ibadah.

Recommendation Dhikr (Remembrance) the Sufis Perspective by M. O Olowu

Dhikr—The Sufis Perspectives is an epitome of twilight of faith. An eye opener in its entity whereby faith and belief are strengthened in the Muslim world, encourage the people of little faith and eliminates doubts of existence of Almighty Allah (SWT).

The author described the lost of mankind into the sphere due to materialistic realm in the absence of our state of quality of being pious in the devotion. Animalistic behaviors of human in a doxastic logic in 4 characters in which is comprehended in the discussion and compared to robotic equipments as people progress in the pragmatic theory and politics. Mankind is further seen through the discourses as explorer, scientist and researcher with the limited knowledge from God.

However, human is seen in a constant law of nature as in The Law of Thermodynamics—a generalizations that describes recurring facts and events in nature, within the sinful world which had sometimes reduced the cleanliness and purity in nearness to
