About this ebook
in your head—and in your home. This book offers a host of connection-creating, stressreducing
strategies that transform you from grumpy to grateful and point you back to
your peaceful and playful nature.

operating system, and leaves you genuinely able to show yourself and others kindness
when a mistake is made.
Brenda also includes three stories from her children’s book, Mr. Upalupagus’s Secret Secrets to help you teach your kids how to bless mistakes and shoo away anger.

Brenda Miller
Brenda taught conscious conflict resolution in six countries and has studied and applied the work of those who know the true cause of, and the cure for stress. They include Eckhart Tolle, Byron Katie, Sadhguru, Mooji, Guy Finley and more. She is passionate (all day long) about helping people find peace inside of themselves – that way, they can access it no matter where they are. She has proof that we are meant to live that way! By doing this work, she went from grumpy to grateful and from blaming - to blossoming her kids (and herself). Brenda has a private practice to help people free themselves from upsets and inner conflict - in 30 seconds! Her favorite discovery has been that joy is natural. She helps parents and their kids rediscover theirs by doing one of these strategies every time a negative state appears. Brenda is an invitation for you to hear the long-forgotten whisper of wellbeing and come back to states that are natural to you: peaceful, playful, patient, and excited about getting up in the morning!

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
Thanks to so many people for making this book a reality: My dad for teaching me this simple humanitarian, respectful, and connecting way of being in the world. My husband and kids for blessing my many mistakes. My grandkids for reminding me without knowing it that it’s natural to be loving toward others when a mistake is made. Special thanks to my best friend, Lesia, who is my longtime ‘inner-work buddy’. We’ve worked everything and anything that could stand in the way of our natural joy, and as a result, we’ve come into clarity and joy together. Thanks to the original group of Kid Code teachers: Amanda, Lasha, Tyla, Louise, Janna, Trista, and Julie, and to those who come after, for spreading this precious stress-reducing act of kindness to as many as possible. Thanks to all the extraordinary people at Balboa Press who helped this book get published and into your hands. And finally, thanks to you for making this a more peaceful world by using Blessing Mistakes.
CHAPTER 1
The Blessing of a Blessing:
Grace Grows Us in One
Direction, Grief in the Other
Grumpy or gracious—
Pick one!
One day I was driving my dad’s too-big truck in a too-small corral and put a dent in it. When I showed him and apologized, he opened his arms wide for me to walk in to for a hug and said, It doesn’t matter a particle.
On that day I learned how to give myself and others grace, not grief, when a mistake is made.
Making Life Easy
When things don’t add up
in your life, start subtracting.
—Unknown
On that day I also learned what works well in relationships—and in life—when mistakes are made. I learned that we have the ability to show love to another person and ourselves when a mistake is made, even though we are often taught otherwise. When we show love to someone who has made a mistake, we both get to feel love. When we are decent to someone who has made a mistake, instead of feeling bad, the person feels safe and cherished. We develop respect and long-lasting connections when we show love to someone who has made a mistake. It feels natural to us to give each other Grace instead of grief, and when we do, we become more comfortable with ourselves and want to pass blessing mistakes on to other people to help them get relief when they make mistakes.
We don’t feel any of those wonderful things if we give someone grief.
We polish our hearts and deliver ourselves straight to our own well-being if we bring this simple but profound practice into our lives.
Since that day,
I’ve been looking
for a good reason
to give another person grief
and haven’t found one.
I’m still looking.
From Panic to Peace
"I went from panicked to peaceful in a matter of seconds when I applied this simple strategy after spilling my coffee and later my morning smoothie all over the counter.
Blessing mistakes defuses upsets before they have a chance to derail you.
This strategy from The Kid Code, 30Second Parenting Strategies highlights the awareness that children and adults are so much more valuable than being defined by a mistake.
When a mishap happens and my son says to me, Bless you, Mom. You matter more than a mistake,
my heart melts, and so does the tension around the situation.
We quickly reset and move forward with the day.
Blessing Mistakes is a blessing!"
