Vegan Meal Prep - Clarissa Fleming

    Introduction

With the vegan diet gaining popularity over the past decade, thousands of informative sources have been published about it in all its wonder, placing it in a positive light as one of the top 10 diets people around the world are interested in following. Even though some have tried the diet as a challenge or temporary means to lose weight, others have adopted it as a lifestyle for environmental purposes and personal belief purposes. Yes, veganism has been linked to promoting health and is more than an effective weight loss solution. It has helped people tackle everyday health problems and has gone as far as being recommended as a treatment option for cancer patients.

While starting out or finding the motivation to remain consistent with following a specific meal plan and exercise regime is rather challenging, there are ways around remaining disciplined.

Veganism is considered a massive challenge for the average individual, particularly when one is just starting out as a newbie. However, with the right tools and mindset, it can become a journey of escapism, one that allows you to enter a state of complete wellness. Veganism has also been described as one of the best ways to look after one’s body, which is why so many people decide to follow the diet.

Something that may get beginners discouraged is getting veganism wrong. Yes, there’s a right and a wrong way to follow the diet. The wrong way involves failing to plan, which can present one with the complete opposite results of what’s intended with the diet. Before starting the vegan diet, it’s important to take note that there is such a thing as vegan junk food, which is what many people gravitate toward starting out, thinking that they’ll obtain the same results. It’s necessary to highlight that just because you’re vegan does not mean you are healthy. Following a vegan diet requires discipline and planning. That’s why it’s best to approach the diet as a lifestyle change.

In the words of true vegans, failing to plan your meals is planning to fail. With that said, this book sheds light on effective veganism. Meal prepping forms an incredibly important part of not only engaging in plant-based eating habits but also reaping the health benefits thereof.

Here you will discover how to meal-prep efficiently and save time while doing so. You will also learn how to approach the vegan diet and how to remain interested and motivated to continue following this life-changing way of eating. This book combines all the information you need to cook your meals, including 50 recipes, a 7-day eating plan to support your vegan journey, and a complete ingredient list to simplify your one-week meal plan, which can be repeated or switched up to suit your needs.

    What Is Veganism?

Veganism is the practice of not using animal products, especially in one’s diet. Along with more people joining the vegan train and celebrities promoting it, there has also been an increased demand for vegan food, beauty products, and household products. Veganism is not only a way of eating but also an eco-friendlier approach to living itself. The vegan craze has also been responsible for thousands of vegan restaurants and brands that now sell ready-to-go meals, snacks, and commodities.

Before the vegan trend, the vegetarian train was running loud and proud and is also considered a diet on its own or the phase you ease into before becoming vegan. Veganism was started by vegetarians in 1944.

Veganism and vegetarianism are two terms people tend to misinterpret and struggle to set apart, but there are, in fact, major differences between the two. Vegetarianism is a way of eating by eliminating all types of meat from your diet. Take note that with vegetarianism you are still allowed to consume animal products, such as dairy products and eggs. With veganism, you are not allowed to consume any meat, dairy, eggs, or animal products, including honey. The honey thing still has people confused, but because bees make and eat honey, it is considered an animal product, which is why it too cannot be eaten.

Vegans are a group of people who don’t want to engage in any type of animal cruelty or the exploitation of animals. This includes food, clothes, and by-products. While there are many health benefits to reap by simply adopting veganism as a lifestyle, most people opt for it because of the ethics behind it, including the belief that all animals have the solemn right to live a life of freedom from humans. Due to farming practices, there have also been documentaries released and books published on the life of farm animals and what they endure throughout their lives just to become a meal for people. Ethical vegans are more like activists that support the welfare of animals, while those who do it for health purposes are more focused on what it can do for their bodies, such as reduce health risks like diabetes, cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, inflammation in the body, and premature death. Since it has been made clear that a lot of animal by-products get pumped with hormones and antibiotics, it’s understandable why anyone would want to take a healthier approach when it comes to food options. Veganism also promotes staggering weight loss results if done correctly, which is probably one of the main reasons why it is so appealing to start with.

Finally, more and more individuals are also adopting the diet for environmental conservancy purposes as the production of animal products have been found
