    Acknowledgments

Writing this book was something that took a lot of diligent effort on my part. It drew from the very core of who I am as a person, and I would be remiss if I failed to mention the people that have been instrumental in me being the person that I am. Therefore, I will first give honor and a humongous thank you to my beautiful wife, Sheri. Sheri, you bring out the best in me, and I live to make you proud. Your opinion rules. Next, I want to name the men that have been in the struggle with me, who have made it their purpose not to be consumed by the system but rather to be exalted from it. Mark Sanders, my brotha from another motha. Stay strong, my brother in Christ. Our vision of being free is coming to fruition sooner than you think. Sam, you know I love you, homie! Keep spreading love no matter what. Tell your sister she is a real trooper. Tony James, aka Lil Tony, you never leave my thoughts and prayers. Big O, aka Oscar Frantz, I never had a better celly. Brotha Mutula Shakur, okay, you were a good celly too; however, your mentorship outweighed our camaraderie. Stay strong, my beautiful brotha. Ken, Mel, Mondo, and Low, I can group you all together because we are family. Plus, I own yawl on the cashflow board. You too, Ves! I own you, but someday, the whole world is going to own your inventions. You are a real genius. To my kids, Justine and Alex, thanks for holding me down while I was at Butner. Your visits meant more to me than you knew. Heather, thanks for all those beautiful grandbabies. Jaia, you were my first baby to learn her ABCs backward. Jaina was my second baby, aka Sticky Fingers. Nia and Chaiya, I watched you two young ladies develop right before my eyes. God has big plans for your futures. Thanks for sending me stock prices, Nia. Vae, Emori, and Harrison, you guys are the future. I cannot wait to add texture to your lives. Joe, you are the next big brother, so keep doing your push-ups! I love you all. My life would not be as rich without you.

Minkah, the BEST Jailhouse Lawyer in the USA. Thanks for assisting me in my pursuit of justice. The defense never rests, Coach. Thanks for being with me from day one at Butner until the end. ONE LOVE. Last but not least. Emanuel DeJesus, my lil brother. Stick with the plan you are going to win!

    Introduction

This book is written to inspire and encourage those who have always wanted to be active in the stock market but didn’t have an effective plan to do so. The purpose and scope of this publication is to provide an avenue through which the neophyte can grasp a clear concept of how to trade in the financial markets and win.

Trading Places is designed to reach individuals who would otherwise be excluded from participating in true financial wealth building through the stock market for any number of reasons. With this system, nobody is excluded! Even the over one million incarcerated people in the United States can use this system to learn to trade and invest in the financial markets. All that is needed is a pencil, a calculator, and some dedication.

I have taught this system to hundreds of people over the last fifteen years, including inmates and their spouses, and it has proven to have life-changing effects on the individuals who put this plan to work.

The most common obstacle that prevents everyday people from participating in the stock market successfully is that they do not have a plan or a system that works. The system offered in this book has been time-tested and proven effective through the biggest recession since the Great Depression of 1929. Now that the United States is currently in the longest-running bull market in US history, it is the perfect time for everyone to capitalize off the phenomenal gains being offered through the financial markets.

This system can be applied in any market condition, up-down or sideways. Therefore, there is never a time when this continuous source of wealth building has to cease. Trading Places is a springboard into a life of financial freedom.

Trading Places—I got the idea for this title from the 1980s movie starring Eddie Murphy where he played a bomb on the streets of New York City who was randomly selected by two wealthy stock brokers to run the family firm. I’m probably messing this story up due to my lack of a good memory, but my message will be clear, so bear with me.

Anyway, the two men were raising a young nephew around the same age as the character that Eddie Murphy was playing. In a one-dollar bet to prove a sociological test, they completely ruined their nephew’s life. To prove that he could not make it on his own in the real world without his family name and special privileges, they stripped him of his identity, took his money, set him up, and sent him to jail. Meanwhile, the two men took Eddie Murphy’s character into their home and groomed him to run the family business. They taught him to think and live like a person of wealth. They taught him etiquette and grace and coupled it with his common sense and street savvy to bring out the best in him. Then they turned him loose to run the show. They were impressed at the person they had transformed. The bet was that anyone could trade in the stock market and become rich. At least that’s what I saw. The one uncle wanted to prove that there was nothing special about their spoiled, privileged nephew; he was just born into
