Posadas Celebration: Journey of Mary & Joseph

The Diocese of Orange invites the community to celebrate Las Posadas on December 14th at Christ Cathedral. Las Posadas commemorates Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem and includes songs, prayers, treats for children, and hot chocolate. The Bishop encourages all to attend the outdoor Posada and prayer service at 7:30 PM and to dress warmly.

Following the example of Joseph and Mary as migrant sojourners ..

elebrated in Mexico and throughout the United States from December 16 through 24, the Posadas celebration commemorates Mary and Josephs journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of shelter on the night of baby Jesus birth. This traditional celebration includes songs, prayers, treats for the children, Mexican hot chocolate and sweet bread.

We encourage all to bring hand held battery operated candles

or small flashlights. Children encouraged to come in angel or shepherd costume. Outdoor event, dress warmly.
