Climate
Summer!
Lasts only for 50 to 60 days! Summers average

Winter!
Winters average temperature

temperature is 37-54 degree Fahrenheit. 24 hour of sun! It is the time when plants start to grow.( Growing Season)

is -30 degree Fahrenheit. 24 hour of darkness! The tundra is very snowy and cold. A layer of permanently frozen subsoil called permafrost exists. Bogs and ponds are formed when it gets warmer.

Characteristics of the Tundra.


The characteristics of a tundra are...

Really cold climate. Low amount of biotic

diversity. Simple vegetation structure. Short season of growth and reproduction. Lots of snow.

Animals
In the tundra there are only a few types of animals, some examples are Lemmings, Caribous, arctic hares and squirrel. Arctic foxes, wolves and polar bears. There are also snow birds, salmon, trout, and many more.

Plants
Dont think that the tundra doesnt have any plants on it. It has more than 1,700 types of plants! Some of them include Low shrubs, sedges, reindeer mosses, liverworts, grasses, crustose, foliose lichen, 400 types of flowers, and many more.

Location
The tundra is located in the northern part of the world. Since the sun cant reach the northern part of the world, its really cold.

The smallest tree in the world! The dwarf-willow tree is the only and smallest tree in the world. It only grows up to 4 inches tall! Its flowers look like whit caterpillars.
