Information about brain cancer
Brain Cancer is a fatal disease
that occurs when abnormal cells
form with the brain.
The causes of brain cancer is
unknown.
How to treat brain cancer
Treatment for brain cancer should
be individualized for each patient.
Treatment plans are based on the
patient's age and general health
status as well as the size,
location, type, and grade of the
tumor.
Tumors can directly destroy brain
cells. They can also damage cells
by producing inflammation,
placing pressure on other parts of
the brain, and increasing within
the skull
In the US, about 2000 children and adolescents younger than
20 years of age are diagnosed with malignant brain tumors
each year. Higher incidence rates were reported in 198594
than in 197583
The brain and spinal cord together make up the central
nervous system (CNS). Cancer can begin in the CNS or, more
commonly, it can spread there.
Primary brain tumors are tumors that form from cells within
the brain. Not all primary brain tumors are the same. Primary
brain tumors can be divided into malignant or benign tumors

Types of brain cancer
There are more than 120 types of brain
cancer.
The most common primary brain tumors are
called gliomas, which originate in the glial
(supportive) tissue.
Brain Cancer Signs And Symptoms
Not all brain tumors cause symptoms, and
some (such as tumors of the pituitary gland,
some of which cause no symptoms) are found
mainly after death, with the death not caused
by the brain tumors.
Brain Cancer Causes.
As with tumors elsewhere in the body, the exact
cause of most brain tumors is unknown.
