Question 4
Who would be the audience for your media product?
I will be focusing on 5 areas when describing what kind of audience
would be best for our media product LIBERTY.
AGE
CLASS
GENDER
EDUCATION
RACE
The age range would be around 15 30 years of age because of
the narrative and by researching other films such as Fast 7 we
decided to choose that because its appropriate. Moreover the
characters are young and not very old so would appeal more to the
young adults age range.
In terms of class the appropriate judgment would be middle class
and maybe lower class. Since narrative doesnt use posh locations it
wouldnt appeal to an higher class and one example would be the
clothing as its very casual so the film wouldnt need people with
suits or anything relating to that matter. However at some point in
the duration of the film the story could go to the extent that clothing
would need to be more conservative and smart. But in terms of a
general sense the demographic would like to see a relaxed film
matching to there class. Depending on psychographics each
element being shown on screen could relate to a person in the
audience in some way depending on what they do on a day-to-day
basis.
Gender will be more related to the male demographic as action
films tend to shine upon males because of there interests as nearly
every male person enjoys conventions relating to explosions,
assassinations and rivalry. On the other hand females would
enjoy drama or a narrative relating to love. In terms of judging
our product I would relate it to teenagers and young adolescents
because of how the films narrative is perceived.
Education would fall in students where they are studying in 6th
form, College or even University because of the storyline,
actors are young and most of all psychographics match with our
the film is perceived towards the audience as nearly everything
could relate backs towards the demographic. One clear example
would be the clothing which is casual and mostly teenagers where
casual clothing and so it relates.
In terms of Race it will fall under British and American people
because of the actors since there are born in London. Since the
location is filmed in London near the Parliament Building it will
entice more British people and create more of a mass audience
rather than a niche. Since our distributor is Universal Studios
we will achieve broadening our market because by using their
tools we will market and advertise it correctly towards the public.
Universal Studios is a huge company where many films have
become successful just by choosing it as their distributor. Moreover
the company could branch out to many people such as Americans.
Secondary audience could relate to Asians, Muslims or even
Europeans depending on how successful the film will be if were to
be released.
As a conclusion I have explained different aspects of who could be
our audience for our product and that by having a big distributor we
could appeal to other countries even though our primary target
would be UK since its filmed in London. So if successful it will appeal
to 15-30 years of age for every ethnic minority. Just by having the
distributor shown first could endorse many sales because of how
famous it is.
