Strait Styling Glatt Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Question 01 What is Strait Styling Glatt? Answer Strait Styling Glatt is a hair system designed to permanently straighten naturally curly, wavy or frizzy hair. 0: For natural, coarse, textured, resistant or very curly semi or demi-permanent colour treated hair. Process with a maximum of 3% Oxigenta. 1: For fine to normal textured, natural to slightly porous very curly or wavy hair. Also for permanently coloured hair in good condition. 2: For porous curly/wavy, permanently colour treated hair, with a fine to normal texture. Do not use on bleached or very porous hair 03 What are important procedures and their significance ? 1. Assess hair quality carefully. On very porous hair the process should be postponed until the condition has improved. 2.Treat the hair with Glatt Straightening Cream. This processing cream softens the curls by breaking the internal bonds in the hair. 3.Glatt Neutralizing Balm locks in the new straight hair configuration. 4. Avoid contact of the hair straightening cream with the scalp, as the cream can enter the hair roots and remain there after both rinsing and neutralising is completed. This could then cause hair breakage. 04 05 What is the active ingredient in Glatt Straightening Cream? How does Glatt work on the hair? Ammonium Thioglycolate By the process of reduction. The internal bonds are broken, then reformed and sealed in the same manner as a perm. Normally until the straightened hair is cut out. The re-growth will still grow back curly/wavy. What is the difference between relaxing, straightening, and re-bonding.

There are currently 3 methods for straightening hair: relaxing, straightening and re bonding. Re bonding (pH value 8.3-9.3): Contains mainly thioglycolic acid and is suitable for straightening wavy, Caucasian hair. This formulation has been developed to be used with hot straightening irons. Re-bonding and straightening processes are similar to perming, yet gentler to the hair. They allow the hair to be re-permed, providing the hair has not been treated with lye or guanidine relaxers. Straightener (pH value 8.3-9.5): Contains mainly thioglycolic acid and is suitable for wavy, Caucasian hair. Relaxer (pH value up to 13.7): Based on hydroxide (lye or guanidine), Suitable for the needs of very curly and Afro hair. No neutraliser required, only a special shampoo to remove the strong alkaline.
