Narrate briefly the events that had taken place in the astrologers life when he was going to close the shop that day The astrologer was dependent on the lights of other vendors and shops. The nuts vendor blew off his light and rose to go. This meant that the astrologer should also pack up. As the astrologer picked up his cowrie shells and his paraphernalia he saw a man standing in front of him. He thought him to be a client and invited him to chat. He then started uttering his set dialogues like You are not getting the fullest of your results, Most of your troubles are because of your nature etc. The man was aggressive in nature and asked the astrologer to stop bluffing and posed him a challenge. He said that he will give the astrologer an anna if he says something true and if he is proved to be bluffing the astrologer has to return the anna with interest. The astrologer did not agree with the small amount of money and asked him to give him a rupee if he says what is right. The man agreed and asked him to say something convincing. The astrologer said that you were left to be dead and was dumped to well nearby in the field and you would have been dead if a passerby had not peeped into the well. The astrologer also said the clients name i.e. Guru Nayak. The man was taken aback and he believed that the astrologer was someone who knows everything. The man asked the astrologer where he would find the person who had attempted to kill him. The astrologer replied that the man who attempted to kill his client had died four months ago after he was crushed under a lorry. He also said that you should never travel southwards again or else your life would be in danger. The man handed him handful of coins. When he returned back home his wife was angry with him as he was late. But when he gave her the coins he received from the man who challenged him she was happy as she could buy some coconuts and jiggery and prepare sweets for her and she counted the coins. But the man had cheated him by giving him only twelve and a half annas. The astrologer looked worried and when his wife enquired him the reason of his worry, he said that when he was young he used to drink, gamble and one day he quarreled with Guru Nayak and attempted to kill him. The astrologer had recognized Guru Nayak but Guru Nayak did not recognize the astrologer. By saying that his enemy had died four months ago, he saved himself from a possible revenge
