Course Description: 7th grade science is a one semester course that will look at
different aspects of science including chemistry, biology, and geology. We will use the
scientific method to observe, ask questions, and test different phenomenon that we
observe in the physical world. We will learn how to ask scientific questions, form
hypotheses, and perform experiments to test our hypotheses.
Scope and Sequence:
5 weeks Chemistry

be scored on a 1-4 point scale.
A = 4: you exceed the standard that is being assessed
B = 3: you meet the standard being assessed

Classwork: Students will be given work in class to do. They will be responsible for doing
that work in the time given to them in class to do it. IF they do not get it done during
that time, it will be their responsibility to finish it outside of class time and will be due the
next day unless otherwise specified.
Late work: Students will be able to turn in their work past the due date, but there will
be a 15% penalty. Also, no late work can be turned in after the unit of instruction. I will
remind you when the last time you can turn something in late.
Labs: During labs, students are not to be running around the room. They must be well
behaved and follow all of the instructions. If they do not follow instructions, or are
horsing around, they will not be able to participate in labs until I sit down with their
parents and discuss the problem. There will be many labs in this class, so follow the
rules.
Accommodations and Modifications: Accommodations and Modifications to this
course will be made based on TAG, IEP or 504 identifications. These changes are on an
individual basis to best meet the needs of the student. Please contact the teacher for
questions. If you do not have a plan and need help for anything else, please contact me,
and I will try to provide as much assistance as I can.
