Put your left hand against the shoulder of the violin. Place your 3rd finger on the E string.
The note that you play may not match the exact pitch above. This is ok, but make sure that the
change in the note is about a 1/2 step.

Slowly Rock your finger side to side while holding the string against the fingerboard. The only
point of contact with the violin should be your 3rd finger and thumb. Make sure your thumb is
soft and flexible. As you rock the finger back, your left hand and arm pull away from your body.
Don't let your knuckle collapse.

Repeat this activity on the A, D, and G strings. Try it with your 2nd finger, 1st finger, and
pinky. Remember only to touch the violin with the finger that is doing the vibrato and the
thumb. Keep your hand flexible and use your hand and arm to help support the rocking motion.
