heads, and have little interest in social distractions like chitchat and motivational speeches. 9. Premium Prole (/premium-
proles/intp)
All INTPs really want is to immerse themselves in an interesting project, and
anything that interrupts that, be it overactive managers, the need to manage
others, or oce parties or meetings, are simply unwelcome burdens.
For this reason, the atter the workplace hierarchy, the better, making small, technical
workplaces and elds such as law, forensics, and laboratory research very desirable for
INTPs. Insightful and open-minded managers who can accommodate these needs will nd
their INTP subordinates to be a tireless generator of brilliant and unique ideas. However,
many people with the INTP personality type may do away with the immediate hierarchy
altogether, opting instead to provide their services on a freelance basis as consultants.

Where INTPs do not thrive is in workplaces that require them to provide a high degree of
emotional satisfaction cruise ship masseuses they are not. INTP personalities struggle to
understand emotional exchanges, and service-oriented positions will prove baing and
exhausting for them. Though INTPs are talented analysts who are perfectly capable of
understanding the theoretical importance of customer service, the day-to-day application of
such a scheme is simply better left to more people-oriented personality types.
Business is growing more complex every day, and this complexity is managed with technical
systems, economic theories, and data. The need for novel approaches is stronger than ever
for people and organizations to distinguish themselves. Though general people skills are
often phrased as a must, it is the technical work that creates something to talk about, and it
is in this pursuit that INTPs thrive.
Work as business analysts and corporate strategists is well suited to INTPs, but they can also
move things forward as data analysts, mechanical, electrical and software engineers, and
even as technical writers and journalists, provided the eld is interesting enough. If they can
smile and shake hands just long enough to establish themselves as the brilliant innovators
that they are, people with the INTP personality type will nd that whatever the expectations
for social conduct, it is the qualities unique to them that are truly in demand.

This is really inreresting. I am actually an ENTP, but I had my daughter take this test and she is the INTP. I
am psychology major, so I had to find a guniea pig to test. It actually makes sense, since personality traits
are genetic. I wouldn't have guessed she scored so high on the introversion. But her dad is an introvert. I am
the extrovert. At least she got the rest of my qualites. I homeschool her, so I guess I better up her science
experiments. We just got a new science book for next semester on Anatomy and Physiology. We are doing
Chemistry and Physics next year.

Perhaps because she is homeschooled she scored lower on extraversion?

Reuben, possibly. But she was in the public school until last year. This is our first year
homeschooling. She begged me to homeschool her. I asked her if she misses school all the time
and she says, No! We still do social functions with church groups and friends and family, so she still
is getting social interactions.

This is interesting, coming from someone who has to consider her career very carefully, and while I have
been thinking about going into law, I'm constantly wondering if I could handle navigating all the red tape and
(a biggie for me) not swearing in court when I get too passionate. I've always been a fiction writer, it's one of
my passions, and it sucks that it's not listed here but it doesn't sway me. Apart from that, I'm still confused
and terrified, though this offers a little comfort

I think the corporate world or businesses really seriously miss out by not valuing the quiet ones, especially
INTPs. The book Quiet talks about this. The leadership skills that can be developed and used, or even just
the ideas of INTPs would help any company so much. The reason is that we can, if matured and all that, we
can see the logical paths to desired outcomes that incorporate all surrounding factors. INTPs have this as a
skill, don't look at us and think "oh, silent dude over here has no clue". Quite the opposite, but there is a
sense of permission giving that needs to take place to and for the INTP to step in and up and use their skills.
It is unfortunate, but we do need to be asked. Of course once you know this, you now know you should step
up. I know this from experience, I was given a leadership role once, and wow, so smooth how things can go if
you take advantage of our logic.

I have been called brutally honest by the people who know me best. I accept that with a grain of salt. retired
chemist with several first's, some of them I'm sure you have all used. Got very little money, but the feeling of
success was all I needed. Never married. No one can stand me for the long term. However, I do have a
purpose in this flesh body and I strive to acheive it. Thank you GOD for my gift.

I totally understand you with the brutal honesty part. I once told a girl that in practical terms she's a
lot stronger than me just that she has added mass and had to work to displace that extra weight
which makes it seem like I'm stronger. It wasn't until after I said it I realized I called her fat
