PCA and EFA Analysis Steps in SPSS

This document provides instructions for performing principal component analysis (PCA), exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and Cronbach's analysis in SPSS. For PCA and EFA, the steps are to upload an Excel file, select dimension reduction analysis, specify principal components or maximum likelihood extraction, perform varimax or promax rotation, set missing value and coefficient options, and copy the output. For Cronbach's analysis, the instructions are to select reliability analysis after uploading the data.

For PCA:

1) Upload the excel sheet in SPSS

2) Go to Analyze
3) Click Dimension Reduction
4) Click Factor
5) Select and load all variables
6) Click Descriptive and select KMO option and then OK
7) Click Extraction and select Principal Components in Method
8) Click Rotation and select Varimax method
9) Click Options and select “Replace with mean” under Missing Values section and select
suppress small coefficients and change absolute value below to 0.3
10) Copy everything

For EFA(Exploratory Factor Analysis):

1) Same as above. The only change is – in Extraction tab change to Maximum Likelihood
Method. Also, in rotation section, change to Promax Method
2) Copy Everything – Currently Factor Correlation Matrix is not showing up in our case

For Cronbach’s Analysis

1) For the same data set, click analyse

2) Go to scale and click Reliability Analysis
3) Press OK
