LAB ASSIGNMENT Nº 4: TCP Sequence Numbers
1. OBJECTIVES
1.1 Learn how through the SEQ and ACK numbers TCP performs reliability.
1.2 Learn how the Window field is applied
1.2 Learn how to use Wireshark to see the change in the ACK and SEQ numbers.
2. PRELIMINARY STUDY
Prior to starting this assignment the student should know the functions of the TCP segment fields Window, ACK,
and SEQ. The student should also know how to make Wireshark display filters to select the segments of interest
from the capture file.
3. THEORY

Two or more computer with windows operating system connected in a network.

5. METHODOLOGY
a. Open Wireshark in a computer connected to a network.
b. Start capturing the packets that pass through the Ethernet interface.
c. Open and web page; one of your preference.
d. Download a file
e. Allow wireshark to capture packets for 10 minutes.
f. Close the web page and the web browser.
g. Stop the capture and save it.
h. By means of display filters show the SEQ and ACK.
6. RESULTS
Include the following ítems in the report.
Display filters
Screenshots showing the SEQ and ACK numbers.
Analysis of the SEQ and ACK numbers.
Analysis of the Window field.
