CONCLUSION

Competition in business drives companies to do better that their competitors by offering the
best products at the best prices. It is good for the business because all players, big or small, are
given a fair chance to vie for customers. It promotes innovation and enhances the marketplace.

The Philippine Competition Act (PCA) is a landmark competition legislation, having on


enacted after more than two decades. It is a game changer since it creates a new culture of
competition in various industries which cultivates consumer choice. It does not only improve
the quality of the life of the public but also promote an inclusive economic progress.

To guaranty that competition shall flourish in the Philippine market, the PCA prohibits anti-
competitive agreements, abuse of dominant position and anti-competitive mergers and
acquisitions.

Through the enactment of the PCA, the Philippine Competition Act was established to be the
primary enforcer and independent quasi-judicial body, possessing powers and functions to
guard market competition and to prevent, if not eliminate, anti-competitive behavior.
