A case control study examined the shock index, which is the heart rate divided by the systolic blood pressure, among women who did and did not receive blood transfusions due to postpartum hemorrhage. The study aimed to determine if shock index could help identify women at risk of severe bleeding earlier to improve outcomes. The case control study was conducted at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Bangkinang Public Hospital involving women who experienced postpartum hemorrhage in 2018.
