barred from applying for support under the Drive in future.

1. Project Summary

ChawadaOnline is a Zimbabwean registered ecommerce company that offers a wide range of


quality products online such as electronics, computers, groceries, fashion, home appliances and
much more. The idea behind ChawadaOnline is to encompass all retailers, wholesalers and any
individual sellers on one platform that can be accessed conveniently by the consumers. Simply
put, it is Zimbabwe’s retail industry brought together on a consumer’s device. The Zimbabwean
economy is moving towards digitization and ChawadaOnline will complement the move.

2. Project Description

Please describe your Project in greater detail explaining how it makes use of ICTs. You may
attach images with your submission to illustrate the Project if appropriate (e.g. screenshots
and short videos of applications or prototypes).
ChawadaOnline is an ecommerce company that is creating an online marketplace for mostly
local buyers and sellers to interact. The platform will operate 24/7 and will with a secure
payment platform and quick delivery system of purchases made to the consumer.
ChawadaOnline focuses on providing convenience to the users and price information.
ChawadaOnline brings about unlimited shopping hours to consumers. Anytime, anywhere and
doing anything, a customer can make a purchase online and get their goods delivered in the
stipulated agreed time. Imagine the convenience of not having to be limited by closing hours. We
have a CRM software that will enable us manage a one on one relationship with our customers
no matter how large the numbers of our customers’ base grows to.

2.1 Market Definition


Identify and define the problem/pain which the innovation will solve.
The cash shortages in Zimbabwe has led to the rise of multi-tier pricing of commodities.
Prices of goods depend on whether you have cash or plastic money. Consumers end up
getting short-changed of their hard earned monies. ChawadaOnline provides an online
market with a secure payment platform where prices do not rise because it is plastic money.
We accept all forms of online payment with no price discrimination with the exception of
transaction charges.

Define and quantify the accessible market for the innovation.


The target market comprises of all users who want a market for their product or service and
those looking for a place to buy products. Transactions will be carried out as Business to
Business, Business to Customer , Customer to Customer, Customer to Business and
Business to Customer. An estimated 1.66 billion people from all over the world shop online .

Indicate how easily the innovation can be developed, and how fast it can go to market.
ChawadaOnline already has a functional and user friendly website. The era in which we live
in has become known as the digital era. Statistical information obtained from STATISTA
show that in 2017, an estimated 1.66 billion people worldwide purchase goods online.
During the same year, global e-retail sales amounted to 2.3 trillion U.S. dollars and
projections show a growth of up to 4.48 trillion U.S. dollars by 2021. These figures show
how consumers are responsive to online shopping sites.

Provide proof that the target market will afford to buy the products of the innovation.
The platform offers a place for users to carry out their day to day transactions conveniently
charging their own prices and agreeing to transact at the price. It is an online marketplace
which eliminates geographical barriers therefore bringing the buyer and seller together.
Indicate how easy it is for the potential customers to deploy the innovation, taking into
account time, change of behaviour and the speed of technological advancement.
Using the platform will not be difficult to the end users. The platform is easy to navigate and
at most the target market has had an experience with an international ecommerce site e.g.
Amazon

2.2 Social Impact


How will the Project deliver social/economic value?
Consumers will now be able to buy products hustle free and get to enjoy the real value of
their money. Also nomore time wasting in queues and families can get their goods delivered
in the comfort of their homes.

2.3 Sustainability
Describe how the innovation can turn into a project that can be sustained, and the potential
that the innovation can be scaled up to a national or international level.
We will ensure that we engage in continuous capacity building of our workforce; we will not
relent in training and retraining of every of our employees. Also, we will introduce a policy that
guarantees our management team to become part owner of the business. As a matter of fact,
profit-sharing arrangement will be made available to all our management staff and it will be
based on their performance for a period of three years or more.

ChawadaOnline will make sure that the right foundation, structures and processes are put in
place to ensure that staff welfare is well taken of. Our company’s corporate culture is designed to
drive our business to greater heights and training and retraining of our workforce is at the top.
We are also an environmentally friendly company

Clearly indicate how the innovation will generate enough revenue to repay the loan, and uplift
the standard of living of the innovators.

We will get a 10% commission on every transaction made on the platform. Revenue will also
from our own products as ChawadaOnline that we will sell on the platform. Part of the revenue
will be generated too from advertisements of large retailers’ products and services.

Clearly indicate how the Project will continue to deliver value beyond the funding period.
We will give more attention and focus to our already existing customers, keeping them
satisfied so that they remain loyal. We will not slow down on advertising and we will put up
strong advertising campaigns to always stay relevant to the customers. ChawadaOnline has
a well organised team who are passionate and committed to their work and will play a huge
role in seeing that the business survives.

2.4 Technological Impact


Clearly describe the impact of the innovation and the potential of the proposed idea to cause
technological change/digital transformation.
ChawadaOnline will change the way people shop and live their day to day lives. It brings so
much convenience and eliminate the hustle on both the buyer and seller side.
ChawadaOnline will eliminate costs associated with looking for a suitable buyer and costs
associated with looking for the right priced product. Everything will be in the users’ palm on
their smartphone and computer. Queues will be a thing of the past in retail shops as orders
can be placed and delivered right at a customer’s doorstep.

How are ICT concepts used in this Project?


There will be the usage of computers, including hardware, software and networks used to
communicate, store and manage the online platform.

How is this Project different from what is currently available in the public domain?
ChawadaOnline is different in that it will minimize delivery time to the shortest possible time
an order can be made available to the consumer. Also it will make sure that a consumer can
return a default product which is something the existing sites haven’t been taking note of.
Our platform will also be the first to integrate already existing shops on the platform for users
to just navigate through and buy their selected products.

Is it a unique idea or a new way of doing something that is already being done?
ChawadaOnline is a unique improvement of an already existing thing.
