Statistical Quality Control: R Charts Guide

This document discusses control charts, specifically R charts, which measure variation within subgroups. It notes that an R chart would not be considered under control if more than 2-3% of subgroups fall outside the control limits. If variation is due to issues like raw material quality, machine settings, the operator, measurement procedures, or a new method, troubleshooting should be done. Even after troubleshooting, if the R chart is still not under control, elimination of subgroups can be considered to plot a new R chart.
