Land Readjustment in Malaysia

Land readjustment (LR) is a land development method where landowners cooperate to reorganize land left behind from planned development and provide basic facilities. It benefits landowners by increasing land value and ensuring ownership while avoiding issues from errant developers. The government benefits from implementing development plans, increasing community participation, and higher tax revenues from increased land values. LR was accepted as an alternative development method in Malaysia in 1999 and the national government agreed to plan and implement it nationwide in 2006. Key elements of LR include preparation, reports, and committees to obtain landowner agreement and consensus on the development plan.
