Science Fair
I learned a lot through this project. First of all, I learned that I have a lot of knowledge regarding
science experiments. A lot of the ones I didn’t know I either lacked the material to reproduce
them, or they were so wildly out there I couldn’t understand what was being said. I also learned
that I shouldn’t doubt my initial thoughts and theories. I ended up going back on my original
hypothesis moments before we conducted the egg standing experiment and that was wrong of
me. I lacked the faith needed to carry on with my thoughts. All in all, I learned a lot about what
eggs can really do, I strengthened my abilities to create PowerPoint presentations, and I learned
that science is still one of my weaker subjects.
ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for STUDENTS (NETS)•S Addressed: 3A
Students plan and employ effective research strategies to locate information and other
resources for their intellectual or creative pursuits.
I think I can use this to help students recognize problem solving as well as doing a ton of
research after their initial thoughts. I learned a lot about the shape of the egg and how it helps it
hold the weight necessary for you to be able to walk on it. I also think that PowerPoint is a great
source that may have been underutilized by my teachers when I went through school. I think it
can be very expressive and a fun way for students to present their findings to the whole class. I
really enjoyed this project and I think my students can benefit from doing something just like it.
