 In our previous semester we learned about in Professional Practice 2 by our
professor Ar. Josenia Merencillo. Architectural as a profession, ethical Norms and office
procedures. The course is designed to provide the students with the basic
understanding of the practice of architecture pertaining to the basic services the
architect renders within the context of professionalism, ethical conduct and service
delivery.

1. We started learning about the role of an architect in the standard of professional

practice as well as the code of ethical conduct in the field of architecture profession.

2. We discuss and delineate the part played by the professionals in the building industry
in particular and society in general.

3. We describe and explain the phases of implementing the basic services of the
architect.

4. Learn to understand the need for effective organization, management and operation
in delivering the architect’s service.

Week 2, The architect and the law Architect’s Education; Apprenticeship & diversified

Week 3 & 4, The Professionalism in the Architecture Practice. a. The Architect’s Credo
b. The Code of Ethical Conduct c. Architect’s responsibility in relation to: The People
The Client The Contractor The Manufacturers, Dealers & Agents The Colleagues and
Subordinates

Week 5 & 6, The Architect’s Regular Service, Introduction, Scope of services, Manner
of providing services, Project classification, Methods of compensation, Owner’s
responsibility and Other conditions of services

Week 7, The General Conditions, Definitions & provisions, Professional Contracts &
agreements

Week 8, The Firm, An overview, Firm Organization, Firm Management, Human

Resource Management.

Week 9, The Project, An overview, Project initiation and acquisition.
