Truss Analysis with Finite Element Method

1) A 150-foot long truss with a depth of 40 feet was analyzed using finite element modeling. The truss was subjected to a 2 kip/foot deck load. 2) The truss was modeled using 18 frame elements, with properties defined for the top chord, bottom chord, and web members. Reactions, internal forces, and deflections were calculated. 3) The maximum calculated deflection of the truss was 0.311 inches, which satisfies the design criteria of L/5795 inches of deflection.
