Steps to be followed to start HCMIS View


Step1. Be sure that there is working LAN within the facility. Check each
cables ends if necessary.
 After that configure the IP configuration of the Server. It is good to
assign an IP for the server from reserved IP list or assign the last IP
address statically. This will minimize the occurring IP conflict.

 Ping to all connected nodes from the server to check whether there is a
problem on the network of IP configuration.

Step2. Configure Microsoft SQL Server 2012


1. Create an Admin Login
 Open Microsoft SQL server Management Studio
 Connect using Windows Authentication (as usual)

 Expand Security which is under Object Explorer panel.


 Right click Logins
 Click New Login… then follow 1-4 on the opened dialog box.
 Click OK

1. Provide login name here

2. Select SQL Server authentication

3. You can use your awn password but


“12345678” is recommended to easily remember.

4. Un-tick Enforce password policy to make password 12345678


acceptable

 Expand Logins
 Right click Admin (Which is created on the above step)
 Click properties
 Login Properties – Admin dialog box will opened
 Click Server Roles which is under Select page panel
 Select sysadmin under Server role. (Make sure that there are two selection public &
sysadmin)
 Click OK

 Right click Connected Object Explorer link then click Properties. The Server Properties
will opened.

 Click Security under Select a page panel


 Select SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode
 Click OK
 Disconnect the Server connection then reconnect using SQL Server Authentication. Or
restart the connection and then connect with SQL Server Authentication. On the second
option you make get two connections, Windows Authentication and SQL server
Authentication.

2. Enable protocols for MSSQLSRVER


 Open SQL Server Configuration Manager
 Expand SQL Server Network Configuration
 Click Protocols for MSSQLSERVER
 Enable all the three listed protocols. To enable their status right click one of
the listed protocols then click Enable. Do the same for all protocols.

 Right click TCP/IP protocol


 Click Properties
 Under IP Address tab make sure that the port number for all IP versions is
1433

 Click OK
 Close SQL Server Configuration Manager

Step 3. Firewall configuration to set rules for in and out bound rules for port
number 1433
1. Create inbound Rule
 Open Windows Firewall
 Click Advanced Settings

 Click Inbound Rules and then right click it


 Click New Rule…
 Select Port then click Next

 Write “14433” on the text box provided in front of Specific local ports then click
Next

 Macke sure that Allow the connection is selected then click Next

 Check that all Domain, Public and Private are selected then click Next
 Provide a name for our new inbound rule then click Finish, I think it is recommended
to use the port number 1433 to easily identify it and remember it.

2. Create outbound Rule


 Follow all the above steps that were used to create inbound rule

Step 4. Attach the DB onto SQL Server Management Studio


 Open SQL Server Management Studio
 Right Click Database then click Attach
 Brows the DB to be attached and then change the Address of the DB
found under Attach As by short name which will be used on the
connection string. You can use FDB means Facility DB or any of your
own short name

 Close SQL Server Management studio. The attached DB remain as


attached.

Step 5. Prepare Connection String


The connection string is slightly different from the old one. Use the following
connection string after replacing the bold ones based on your configuration.
Data Source=[Link];Network=DBMSSOCN;Initial Catalog=FDB;Integrated
Security=False;UID=Admin;PWD=12345678;
MultipleActiveResultSets=True;Network=DBMSSOCN
NOTE:
 [Link] is static IP address assigned or the server
 FDB is a name used while DB was attaching to SQL Server SQL Server
 Admin and 12345678 are username and password of the SQL server Authentication
login
