Features of Media Text :
1. The Inverted Pyramid Structure
2. Informative and Vocative Texts
Answer :
1. The Inverted Pyramid Structure is a structure of writing or presenting news that puts all
important information at the beginning, then goes down to contain less important
information. The inverted pyramid is also defined as the structure of writing or presenting
the most basic news that is commonly done by journalists, especially for straight news or
features. In this way, journalists put all important information at the beginning, then go
down to include less important information. The features of the inverted pyramid consist
of headlines (leads), which contain information that has the main priority of the 5W+1H
elements, namely what, where, when, who. Then followed by the news agency (body),
which contains a description of the news ideas that are in the headline, usually containing
the why / how element. And the last part of the inverted pyramid contains various data
that are not too important, for example a list of names or other things that do not really
affect the subject matter of the news.
2. Informative text is a text that presents factual news without any comments in it.
Informative texts are written using specific features that allow readers to easily identify
important information and understand the main topic. In informative text, usually several
sections of text place titles in certain sections, highlight important words in bold, and use
visual representations. This informative text usually avoids repetition, contains facts and
provides information clearly. While vocative text is a text that focuses its message or
presentation on the reader, for example, such as announcements, instructions, warnings,
propaganda, and popular fiction stories. Vocative text serves to offer something to the
reader, such as advertisements and announcements. The term vocative here means to
invite or urge the recipient of the news to act, think, feel or react as intended in the text.
