CAMERA SYMBOLS

SYMBOLS DEFINITION

Your camera's icon may read "AUTO." These uses

the camera's normal, average exposure settings
to automatically set the flash and focus. This can
be used for regular photography, but if you want
to add some special effects to your photos, keep
reading.

This mode should be used for any photos taken

from two feet or closer. Use this one if you really
want to zero in on a topic. Also, keep in mind that
the flash will most likely not turn on
automatically with this mode, so you'll have to
set it manually.

This one is used for any photographs of distant

subjects. In addition, the flash should be turned
off for these types of photos. An 8 symbol is also
used to indicate landscape mode on occasion.
extremely narrow

This is the mode to use if you take a lot of

pictures of moving objects. It raises your
camera's shutter speed to its highest setting,
allowing you to capture subjects in motion. You
should only use the flash when necessary for
these types of shots.

This mode is obviously used for photos taken at

night or in low-light situations. It employs a slow
shutter speed and may also employ automatic
flash. This one's icons may differ slightly from
camera to camera.
