I. Complete the following sentences.

II. Explain the meaning of the following terms used in document production.
a) Gutter: The extra margins created for documents that need to be bound into a book form, so the binding
doesn’t obscure the text.

b) Header & Footer: Headers and footers are pieces of text, or graphics, that appear at the top(Header) and
bottom(Footer) of a page. After you set up a header and footer, they will appear on all of your pages.

c) Widow: The last line of a paragraph that spills over onto the top of the next page where it is left by itself.

d) Orphan: The first line of a paragraph that is left on the bottom of a page by itself.

e) Wrapping: Text wrap is a feature supported by many word processors that enables you to surround a
picture or diagram with text. The text wraps around the graphic.

f) Margin : The s[ace around the edges of a page is referred to as a margin.

g) Page break : A page break shows where one page ends and another page begins.

h) Line spacing : Space between the lines in a block of text.

i) Tabulation : Tabulation refers to how far to the left or right text is intdented.

j) Indented paragraph: A paragraph that begins its first line of text few spaces away from the left hand
margin.
k) Hanging paragraph : Indentation of the second and subsequent lines of a paragraph that is different
from the first indentation of the paragraph.

l) Mail merge : Mail merge is a way of combining the data


source into other document types in order to make multiple
copies of the same document for the purpose of sending it to
many different people.Mail merge requires a master document
and a data source which are merged once place holders from
the data source have been inserted in to the document.
